The Carl Caskey Speidel Collection includes journal reprints and hand-drawn plates and figures used in journal articles. It also includes Speidel's press clippings, and materials from the classes he taught at the UVA Medical School. Also included in the collection are 74 reels of 16-mm film ranging in length from 100-450 feet of film documenting his research, with still photographs from the films, title lists and summaries of his films. The total length of the films is over 23,000 feet.

Papers of William Edwin Chilton (1858-1939), a lawyer, Democratic politician, publisher of the Charleston Gazette, and U.S. Senator (1911-1917); also includes correspondence of his son William E. Chilton, Jr., editor of the Gazette. The Chiltons were a prominent Charleston family who were long-time owners of the Gazette. There are series of correspondence, legal papers, speeches and writings, and other material. Topics include state and national Democratic politics during the 1930s; family affairs; and the senator's business interests in West Virginia and Kentucky coal lands, including the Kanawha Coal Operators Association.

This collection consists of educational materials belonging to University of Virginia School of Medicine student William Edward "Bill" Nelson, MD during his first two years of medical school. Collected during Dr. Nelson's first year (1983-1984) and second year (1984-1985), the materials consist of handouts containing Dr. Nelson's notes, marginalia, and highlighting and were created by faculty, residents, and others.

Ligon, Jr.concerning the Ligon family. The collection contains correspondence, newsclippings, photographs, post cards, photostats, forms, genealogical charts, book reviews, Christmas card albums, and printed material, much of it mounted in bound volumes and scrapbooks. Also present is the typescript and illustrations for the book The Ligon Family and Connections,the product of all of the research and genealogical inquiries conducted by Ligon through his correspondence.

Correspondence, notes, typescripts, and genealogical charts of James M. Owens concerning genealogy of the Madison family of Virginia with emphasis on President James Madison and Bishop James Madison. Includes photocopies of letters of President James Madison and Bishop James Madison; and two original letters, 1804 and 1832, of James Madison and one, 1846, of John Quincy Adams.

Fifty pieces (including lids and pairs) of Asian-inspired design, frosted glassware (clear, pink, green) designed by West Virginia artist Virginia B. Evans (1894-1983) and produced by Imperial Glass Corporation of Bellaire, Ohio. Includes well-known dragon and butterfly motifs in ashtrays, bookends, vases, and other pieces.

The Arthur M. Squires Papers, 1888-1987 (bulk 1940-1987), consist of extensive correspondence, unpublished research reports, lectures, trip reports, reprints, trip diaries (1968-1982), photographs (1979) from his trip to China, daily work books (1959-1981), and subject files spanning entire career. This collection is unprocessed.
