Wythe County (Va.) Court Records, 1799-1905 (bulk 1800-1850). The collection contains various documents removed from Wythe County court records. Documents include affidavits, bills of complaint and answers, caveats, criminal records, decrees, deeds, depositions, letters and accounts, pleas, subpoenas, a guardianship appointment, an injunction bond, a judgment, as well as several envelopes, a postcard, and a statement of costs. Chancery causes referenced in the documents include Simpkins vs. Peyton, Kennedy vs. Edmiston, Owens vs. Literary Fund, Hughes vs. Brabson, Calfee vs. Carter, Smith vs. Kincaid, Irons vs. Thompson, Byars vs. Campbell, McKee and Greenway vs. McCann, Harnegar vs. Day, Huffman vs. Thompson, Toncray vs. Davison's Administrator, Carter vs. Hill, and Sheffey vs. Pierce and Jackson. Also included are a land grant to S. Philipie, 1810; and lists of sales of lead from lead mines, 1818 and 1822.
