Wythe County (Va.) Court Records, 1799-1905 (bulk 1800-1850). The collection contains various documents removed from Wythe County court records. Documents include affidavits, bills of complaint and answers, caveats, criminal records, decrees, deeds, depositions, letters and accounts, pleas, subpoenas, a guardianship appointment, an injunction bond, a judgment, as well as several envelopes, a postcard, and a statement of costs. Chancery causes referenced in the documents include Simpkins vs. Peyton, Kennedy vs. Edmiston, Owens vs. Literary Fund, Hughes vs. Brabson, Calfee vs. Carter, Smith vs. Kincaid, Irons vs. Thompson, Byars vs. Campbell, McKee and Greenway vs. McCann, Harnegar vs. Day, Huffman vs. Thompson, Toncray vs. Davison's Administrator, Carter vs. Hill, and Sheffey vs. Pierce and Jackson. Also included are a land grant to S. Philipie, 1810; and lists of sales of lead from lead mines, 1818 and 1822.

Wythe County (Va.) Deed, 1863. Consists of a deed conveying a parcel of land on the West Fork of Stony Fork from Rufus Hedrick and his wife Lucretia Hedrick to James Trucks, Trustee of Susan Jane Tenley, for three hundred dollars.

Wythe County (Va.) Deed, A.S. Hoilman and Wife to Martin Moore, 1872. Consists of a deed conveying three acres, two rods, and twenty-five poles of land on the south side of Need Creek from Archibald S. Hoilman and his wife to Martin Moore for one hundred dollars.

Wythe County (Va.) Deed, Dougherty to Beeson, 1790. Consists of a deed conveying 97 acres from Robert Dougherty, Executor of Michael Dougherty, to Richard Beeson for two hundred pounds.

Wythe County (Va.) Deed, Smyth and Wife to Wolcott, 1800. Consists of a deed conveying seven tracts of land comprising 1,034 acres from Alexander and Nancy Smyth to Alexander Wolcott of Windsor, Connecticut, for 434 dollars.

Wythe County (Va.) Deed, Thomas Smyth to James Devor, 1800. Consists of a deed conveying 124 acres along Walkers Creek, a branch of the New River, to James Devor for 100 pounds.

Wythe County Judgment (Writ of Habeas Corpus), Dec. 1864. Consists of a writ of habeas corpus from the case Leroy Spencer vs. S. Tubman, Enrollment Officer of Carroll County, ordering Spencer, age 48, be taken into custody of the military reserves corps of the Confederate States of America.

Wythe County (Va.) Justice of the Peace Commission, Second District, 1852. Consists of a commission from Governor Joseph Johnson certifying the election in the second district of Andrew F. Gregory, Samuel Hurst, James Matheny, and George Painter Justices of the Peace for Wythe County.
