This collection, 1789-1897, n.d., of approximately 325 items contains business papers of the Thomas Beck Familyof Amherst County, Virginia. Captain Thomas Beck, who sold corn and grains from his mill and general store, was a lawyer who appears to have practiced law with Captain Charles Mundy. There are papers of the James Davis Familywho apparently also owned a general store and were active in local government. Included are receipts, orders, promissory notes, accounts, legal papers, and some correspondence.

Papers of the Coleman, Davis and Pannill families of Orange and Culpeper counties, Va. Includes correspondence, 1827-1838, of William Davis with Peter F. Armstead, Linn Banks and William B. Wallace concerning the collection of money owed by Wallace. The papers include Davis's accounts and papers relating to his estate. There are also land records concerning Orange County, Va. and leases from Alexander Spotswood (1676-1740) and Alexander Spotswood (ca. 1746-1818.) Collection includes Sale family Bible which includes records of the Davis family, Grasty family, and Sale family.

This a a collection of diaries of William Couch Davis, Jr., and his wife, Mary Anderson Davis, including accounts of William's jobs in France (1917-19), Cuba, Savannah, and Norfolk. They include many details about the Davis family of West Point, Virginia. One of Mary's diaries covers their first married year (1924-25) in Cuba and others cover their trips (1935-1959) out west in Canada and to Central America and Europe.

One box of material including original and typescript copies of letters exchanged between Anna Kennedy and J.J. Davis for the period 1860-1862. Also included is material on the Chapin family, Davis and Steen family genealogy and Reed family Bible. Correspondents are J.J. Davis, Anna Kennedy, J.W. Davis, Phineas Chapin, Rev. Asa Brooks, and J. W. Wayland. John W. Davis' certificate of Admission to practice before the Supreme Court of West Virginia dated 1896. His sponsor was Melville Davisson Post and President of the Court was Homer Holt. Also, Davis' commission as a Notary Public dated 1898.

Collection of genealogical information regarding the Davis family of Clark County, Ohio in the late 1700s to the mid 1800s. Beginning with Robert Davis, the collection follows the bloodline through his daughter, Mercy (Davis) Meranda, to where the family eventually moved to in Missouri and later, Indiana.
