Abstract Or Scope

The Secretary of Transportation records consist of ninety archival boxes and are divided into six series. Series have been designated for Appointment Calendars, Constituent Correspondence, Historically Significant Projects & Files, Previous Administrations, Projects & Studies, and Public Relations, Activities, & Visits. These records document the work of the Secretary of Transportation under Governor Mark R Warner. The bulk of the records can be found in the Constituent Correspondence series which includes letters sent to Governor Mark R. Warner and the Secretary of Transportation. Also significant is the Projects & Studies series which contains information related to Aviation, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Rail & Public Transportation, Highways, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the Virginia Port Authority. The Previous Administrations series also contains noteworthy information related to the work of the Secretary of Transportation, particularly Governor George Allen's Commission on the Future of Transportation and Governor Gerald Baliles's Governor's Commission of Transportation in the 21st Century.

The Records of Community Learning Week 1979-1998

Abstract Or Scope

These records reflect the activities and events of Community Learning Week (CLW) at Virginia Union University and in the Richmond community. CLW was organized in 1979 by the Richmond Committee of Black Clergy and the Office of Student Development at Virginia Union University. Rev. T.C. Milner headed the clergy group and Dr. Grace Pleasants directed the Virginia Union University office. The intent was to bring together the community to honor the memory and mission of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Pleasants served as program coordinator with Milner assisting until 1983 when Milner became program director. The week-long celebration includes a Community Leaders Breakfast and educational and cultural events throughout the city.

Sigrid L. Rupp Architectural Collection, 1950/2004

Abstract Or Scope

Sigrid L. Rupp (1943-2004) was principal architect of her own firm, SLR/Architects in Palo Alto, California from 1976 to 1998. Born in Germany in 1943, she relocated to California with her family in 1953. She earned a B. Arch. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1966. SLR/Architects specialized in technical facilities and industrial work providing architectural services for many of the pre-eminent Silicon Valley firms in the 1980s and 1990s. The collection consists of architectural drawings, photographs, administrative and job files, contracts, and other material relating to over 700 of Rupp's projects, as well as material relating to Rupp's personal travel and artistic endeavors. The materials in the collection range in date from 1950-2004 with the bulk of the material dating 1976-2004.

These recordings also allow you to see many of Virginia's key political figures as they rise through the ranks of state politics.

Loren Roth papers, 1950/2022, bulk 1974/2022

Abstract Or Scope

This collection is divided into two series. The first series, "abuse of psychiatry and psychiatrists", consists of subject files compiled by Dr. Loren Roth, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh. They are evidence of Dr. Roth's efforts to stop the abuse of psychiatry and psychiatrists for political reasons, with an emphasis on the former Soviet Union. The subject files contain correspondence, articles, reports, evaluations, meeting minutes, agendas, planning materials, diaries, photographs, memoranda, handwritten notes, programs, books, videotapes, ephemera, and other items. Together, these materials date from around 1950 to 2008. However the bulk of them date from the 1970s to the 1990s, when Dr. Roth participated in U.S. delegations to the former Soviet Union and was part of the American Psychological Association's (APA) Committees on Human Rights and International Abuse of Psychiatry and Psychiatrists.
