Abstract Or Scope

Records of the activities and meetings of the Ware River Circle of the King's Daughters organization. Includes scrapbooks, pamphlets, meeting minutes, president's books, treasurer's record books, and photographs. It is important to note that included with this collection are a copy of the 1912 minutes of this same organization. It is unclear if the original records exist or if they were damaged, lost, or destroyed so the copy was retained with the records. Removable media is also included in this collection including VHS tapes, 3.5 inch floppy discs, and a compact disc of events, records, and treasurer's reports.

The collection of Washington forgeries and bookplates from the 19th and 20th centuries measures 1 linear foot. Found within the collection are forged Washington documents from notorious forgers Robert Spring, Joseph Cosey, and Charles Weisberg, as well as unidentified forgeries. The collection also contains bookplates – originals, restrikes, and spurious copies – from the Washington family and correspondence related to the sale of forgeries.

Robert Waldsmith Collection of stereographs and cabinet cards, 1856/1981

Abstract Or Scope

Views of Mount Vernon spanning more than 100 years. The Robert Waldsmith Collection consists of approximately 300 stereographs and cabinet cards by Alexander Gardner, N. G. Johnson, Luke D. Dillon, and others. Highlights of the collection include: several west front views of the Mansion, including the earlist known one by Frederick Langenheim, circa 1856; an early view of the tomb, circa 1857, and a collection of Washington statues and buildings honoring the first President.

This collection consists of forms filled in by official weather station observers at VMI, Lexington, Virginia where a local station was located. The official observer was traditionally a VMI faculty member. The data was reported to the National Weather Service.

Contains photographs, programs, scrapbooks, and other material concerning the Wedgewood Playhouse based in Toano, Virginia, located just west of Williamsburg, Virginia. Included in the records are negative and print photographs of various productions at the theater from 1963-1969; programs from productions in the 1960s; a scrapbook of clippings, photographs, and letters from the theater's 1963-1964 season; and ledger books containing the financial records of the theater from 1965-1971. More information about the history of the Wedgewood Playhouse can be found in Box 1 of the collection.

Photographs and letters from the Weltner family estate owned by Fred Weltner of Stewartstown, and acquired by James Clark West, a second cousin. Includes portraits of residents of the region encompassing Stewartstown, West Virginia and Point Marion, Pennsylvania. Many of the photographs were taken in studios in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.
