This collection includes materials pertaining to Libby Lindsay Dingess's work as a coal miner and union activist. It includes newspaper clippings, papers, and other materials from various coal mining operations, as well as various materials from the Coal Employment Project and the United Mine Workers of America union. Other materials include papers on employment equality, newsletters from the Coal Mining Women's Support Team News, and newspapers on coal mining strikes from the late 1980s to early 1990s. Also included in the collection are stickers and pins relating to coal mining and various coal mining conferences throughout the country.

This collection includes materials pertaining to Libby Lindsay Dingess's work as a coal miner and union activist. This series contains materials produced and collected by Libby Lindsay Dingess pertaining to her work with the United Mine Workers of America from 1980-2013 and as a female coal miner and labor organizer. Prominent topics include labor organizing, coal mining, and union strikes. The types of materials included are calendars, court documents, newspaper clippings, notes, pamphlets, publications, and scrip. The materials can be found in boxes 1, 2, and 3.

Papers of J. Davitt McAteer documenting his advocacy for mining and other occupational safety. A lawyer and expert on mine safety and health issues, he served as an Assistant Labor Secretary for the Mine Safety and Health Administration from 1993 to 2000. McAteer was also appointed lead investigator into the Upper Big Branch Mine Disaster by Governor Manchin in 2010. The collection includes accident investigation reports, conference files, correspondence, health and safety manuals, mine disaster historical files, press clippings, publications, and reports, among other material.

Records in this collection contain information on the Association's financial accounting, revenue, expenditures, employees and employee benefits, investments, taxes, and other financial concerns. There is a very limited amount pertaining to fundraising efforts and/or private donations, which can be found in the files of Mount Vernon's development department (currently unprocessed). Bulk date 1870s-2000s.

Artwork, photography, and papers of James Edward Davis, an artist born in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Davis studied art at Princeton University and had a prolific and varied artistic career, being particularly noted for his experimental abstract films involving color, light, and movement. This collection contains paintings, sketches, mobiles, photographic prints, transparencies, memoirs, notes on Frank Lloyd Wright and John Marin, and other material. There are addenda to this collection, which include memoirs and other writings, correspondence, material regarding Julia Davis and John W. Davis (relatives of James Davis), and other material. Records and photographs documenting the history of southeastern West Virginia compiled by Summers County residents Fred Long and Stephen Trail. Many of the items were collected by a local newspaper, the Hinton Daily News (later the Hinton News). The collection focuses on the history of Summers County and Hinton from the mid-1700s to 2012, as well as the history of other areas in southeastern Virginia and western Virginia. Subjects include the town of Hinton, Hinton High School and Summers County schools, genealogy and family history, the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Railroad, archaeological and geographical features, other Summers County communities, wars, and other topics. Materials include a large quantity of photographs and negatives along with clippings, printed materials, ephemera, oral histories, maps, motion pictures, sound recordings, typescripts, manuscripts, and other types of materials. Many items are facsimiles of photos, documents, and newspapers.
