This collection includes material related to and collected by the Reverend Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker and his wife, Theresa Ann Edwards Walkers. Materials include personal papers and administrative files of Dr. and Mrs. Walker, audio recordings of Dr. Walker's church services, honors and awards given to Dr. and Mrs. Walker, photographs and slides taken by or depicting Dr. Walker, Dr. Walker's published works and unpublished manuscripts, and other memorabilia and ephemera. Also included is an oral history performed with Dr. and Mrs. Walker.

Abstract Or Scope

The collection contains a diary of Isabel Levin--Porter's longtime friend and the trustee of her literary estate--detailing her travels to Europe in 1932. The collection also includes two books by Porter, "My Chinese Marriage" (1921) and "The Days Before" (1952), a two page letter from Katherine Anne Porter to Douglas Watson, and a postcard in the jacket of the later book. In addition, a small pamphlet, a card and air mail post card signed by Porter, a photograph of Porter, a recipe for "K.A.P.'s Fresh Vegetable Broth," and two color lobby cards can be found in the collection. Also includes the cookbook, The Artists' & Writer's Cookbook, Beryl Barr and Barbara Turner Sachs, editors (Sausalito, Calif.: Contact Editions, 1961), which has been cataloged separately and shelved in the Rare Books Collection.

Maryat Lee (1923-1989) was an American playwright and theater director who made important contributions to post-World War II avant-garde theater. She pioneered street theater in Harlem and later founded EcoTheater in West Virginia, a community-based theater project. Materials include reports, newsletters, correspondence, newspaper clippings, photographs, cassette tapes, VHS tapes, posters, manuscripts, notes, scripts, screenplays, published plays, genealogical research, journals, drawings, and paintings. Also present is a piece of stained glass created by Lee, a dress worn by Lee, and an EcoTheater T-Shirt.
