Correspondence comprises the bulk of the collection.

Administrative Files, 1937/1972

Series 1: Administrative Files, 1937-1972, includes a diverse assortment of administrative documents representing the business' large-scale farming operations. Insurance information and documents represent a large portion of the series regarding farm capital and employees. Another large section of the series is "testing documentation" for the various animals owned and bred by the Wamplers including chickens, turkey, cows, and sheep. Nearly all of these animals required regular government-regulated testing, and the corresponding findings and results are within this series.

The University of Virginia Anatomy Laboratory Lantern Slides collection, 1920/1965

This collection is divided into two series. The first series, "Keystone View Company anatomy slides", is a nearly complete set of 3 x 5 inch lantern slides that depict black-and-white photographic images showing various parts of human anatomy. The Keystone View Company most likely produced and sold this slide set sometime between 1920 and 1950. The second series, "Cephalapagus presentation slides", consists of 3 x 5 inch lantern slides that were used in a presentation at an academic conference. The presentation was titled, "Dissection of a Human Craniopagus Parietalis". The presentation was given by Robert B. Moore and Arthur H. Wasser of the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1959 at the annual meeting of the Virginia Academy of Science.

Bailey, including notes on bird species, habitat, and behavior; correspondence; field journals; printed materials; photographs and other images. Among Bailey's papers are files relating to his books, The Birds of Virginia and The Birds of Florida, as well as his operation of the Rockbridge Alum Springs Biological Laboratory. Also includes biographical files on hundreds of other naturalists and ornithologists, including such materials as correspondence, writings, photographs, field notes, and biographical sketches.

Artwork, photography, and papers of James Edward Davis, an artist born in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Davis studied art at Princeton University and had a prolific and varied artistic career, being particularly noted for his experimental abstract films involving color, light, and movement. This collection contains paintings, sketches, mobiles, photographic prints, transparencies, memoirs, notes on Frank Lloyd Wright and John Marin, and other material. There are addenda to this collection, which include memoirs and other writings, correspondence, material regarding Julia Davis and John W. Davis (relatives of James Davis), and other material. Carl Caskey Speidel papers, 1923/1982

The Carl Caskey Speidel Collection includes journal reprints and hand-drawn plates and figures used in journal articles. It also includes Speidel's press clippings, and materials from the classes he taught at the UVA Medical School. Also included in the collection are 74 reels of 16-mm film ranging in length from 100-450 feet of film documenting his research, with still photographs from the films, title lists and summaries of his films. The total length of the films is over 23,000 feet.

Kinney and Associates in Cincinnati, Ohio (1953-1963), and from his tenure as dean of the College of Architecture at Virginia Polytechnic Institute (later Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University). Materials in this collection span Burchard's education and career, dating from between about 1935 and 1989.

Papers and artifacts, 1917-1946, of Julius John Lankes, artist, who lived many years of his life in Newport News, Va. Includes biographical data, notes concerning a Lankes exhibition at the College of William and Mary; printed books by Lankes; correspondence and documents concerning the publication of Virginia Woodcuts by Lankes; photocopies of letters concerning a visit to Robert Frost; photocopies of prints from Lankes woodcuts; and woodcut blocks. Additions (Sm Coll Add 12, 1996.42, 1996.55, 1997.13 and 1997.14) include copies of twelve letters from Sherwood Anderson to Lankes (mostly concerning Lankes' woodcuts), photocopies of woodcut designs and correspondence, as well as a reproduction of a Lankes self-portrait. The additions also include two checklists: Burl N. Osborn, " A Descriptive Checklist of the Woodcut Bookplates of J. J. Lankes (Millersville, Pa., 1937) and "The Descriptive List of J. B. Lankes' Christmas Cards, 1959-1983 as well as four original signed woodcuts.
