Includes a photocopy of the will of William Parsons (1828); an accurate typescript of the will, prepared by donor; a less accurate transcript of the will, from a family history book; a transcript of an 1850s financial document from the Randolph County Courthouse about Buck, one of the slaves mentioned in Parsons' will who was apparently suing for freedom; and background information about William Parsons and his wife, Catherine/Catharine, as well as the names of Buck's children.

Much of the collection consists of personal and professional correspondences of William Robert Adam. There are also a number of programs from events that Adam coordinated or was invited to attend in Alexandria and Washington, DC. The collection also includes awards and certificates, newspaper clippings, bibliographical information, publications, and research papers. There is also a folder on the composer Richard Bales, who conducted orchestral performances at some of Adam's events. The collection includes a number of realia such as medals and medallions.

Five letters from William M. Rome to his wife, Said from Nashville, Tennessee. Rome has traveled from New York in order to find lucrative work in Nashville. He writes about missing his wife and the comforts of home.

35 photographs of Colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown. The Williamsburg photographs show Duke of Gloucester Street before its renovation by Rockefeller. Included are pictures of the Wren Building of the College of William and Mary including a photo of the chapel guttet to show the crypt. There are also pictures of the Govenor's Mansion, Bruton Parish Church, the Magazine Building, Court House, and pictures of the downtown business buildings of Williamsburg busines. Jamestown pictures are mostly landscape photos as are the Yorktown photographs. There are two aerial photographs and one close up of the Yorktown monument.

Downs was an engineering professor at West Virginia University and an engineer with the West Virginia State Road Commission. Includes records and photos of road-building projects in Bolivia and West Virginia, photograph albums of West Virginia hydro-electric plant construction, lists of lot owners for the area flooded by Cheat Lake, and a memoir of Downs' student years at West Virginia University, ca. 1905.

Letters, [1772], 1789, 1839, and 1846-1847, of William Short, while a diplomat in France, and later while living in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with the later letters discussing the settlement of his estate with his nephew, Charles W. Short (1794-1863), of Louisville, Kentucky. Also includes copies of Short's appointment to various diplomatic posts, 1790-1794; a copy of George Washington's letter to the King of Spain explaining Short's departure from Spain, 1796; his will; a genealogical chart of the Short family; an article of his love affair with the Duchess de la Rochefoucauld; and his watch and fob.

This collection consists in large part of photostats and transcription. The originals are held by various other institution. Also included are copies and transcripts of correspondence to, from, and about Small, and photocopies of a picture of him.

This collection consists of seven diaries that William Taylor Baskett (1884-1972) created to document his life in 1903 and 1904, including his experiences as a University of Virginia School of Law student. It also contains digital copies of the diaries and digital files the donor created while researching Baskett.

These papers include mainly reprints of Thom's publications on geology (1917-1955) along with several letters and a travel diary (1920).
