This collection details the personal and professional papers of George Smith and William E. Nelson. Legal documents consist of deeds, forms, and official papers. Papers of Edward Price Buford, lawyer of Lawrenceville, Brunswick County, Va., who practiced alone and in the firms of Buford, Palmer and Hill, and Buford, Palmer and Eggleston. Letter books, daybook and journal containing personal and legal correspondence and accounts, and materials relating to political and economic conditions in Lawrenceville and Southside Virginia, to a hospital fund campaign in Lawrenceville, and to the Lawrenceville Land and Timber Co. of which Buford was an officer. Correspondents include Robert Strange.

The following material concerns businesses in which N. F. Snarrhad an interest, including the Farmers Mutual Telephone Systemand three general stores: Borden Brothers; Snarr, Borden and Mileyand Snarr and Miley Company. Many of the ledgers and account books were not labeled so the store to which they belong could not be determined.

Account books and ledger journals of a farm, coal mine, and grist mill owned by James Irvin Samson Stealey in Clarksburg, West Virginia, 1865-1907. The mill, known as the Point Mill, was located at Point Comfort, where the Elk Creek and West Fork River join.

Gwaltney & Co., a ham packing plant in Smithfield, Virginia. Dating from approximately the 1870s to 1940s, the collection includes 426 manuscript account books, 8 printed volumes and 37 record cartons of invoices, banking and packing slips, contracts and some correspondence.

Includes information on rent on studio space, subletting that space, membership dues, recital ticket sales, whist games, lectures, and banquets. Also includes information on their expenses, such as newspaper advertisments, janitor sercies, rent, and purchases of music. Also includes cancelled checks written by the organization.

Kept as a blacksmith in Mt. Solon, Va. Includes correspondence of Hise with Fred Hise and John P. Hise as well as other correspondence and accounts.
