The papers consist largely of land, property, and goods transaction receipts and documents of each of the four generations of the Dickson Family, who originally settled in what is now Greenbrier County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in the 1770s. Certificates, oaths, correspondence, deeds, and a diary are included in Joseph Dickson's papers, along with several sale documents for enslaved people from the late 1700s and early 1800s. Much of the land and goods and many of the enslaved people were exchanged with neighbors and others in the area.

Miscellaneous records of Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Includes: 1) financial records (8 items, 1870-1921) such as receipts from various businesses including The Thomas Grocery Company (Lewisburg, West Virginia) (1916), Mason Bell (Lewisburg, West Virginia) (1921), and A.G. Handly and Company (a general store in Meadow Bluff, West Virginia) (1870), among others; 2) personal and business letters (4 items, 1895-1910) between Greenbrier County residents and others; and 3) legal papers (3 items), including a Greenbrier County Court document regarding the payment of a state license tax by John H. McPherson (1886), and documents regarding the estates of Joseph McMillion (1857) and Cavendish Knight (1870). Personal names throughout the collection include John C. Dice, John H. McPherson, James K. McMillion, Joseph McMillion, Maggie L. McMillion, R.W. Montague, and E.R. Skaggs.

Papers of H. C. and Virginia R. Cabell, husband and wife, of Greenbrier County, West Virginia. Includes tax receipts for real and personal property, hotel licenses, and a tobacco retail license. Also includes a receipt for payment on a note by William A. Martin.

Records and photographs documenting the history of southeastern West Virginia compiled by Summers County residents Fred Long and Stephen Trail. Many of the items were collected by a local newspaper, the Hinton Daily News (later the Hinton News). The collection focuses on the history of Summers County and Hinton from the mid-1700s to 2012, as well as the history of other areas in southeastern Virginia and western Virginia. Subjects include the town of Hinton, Hinton High School and Summers County schools, genealogy and family history, the Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Railroad, archaeological and geographical features, other Summers County communities, wars, and other topics. Materials include a large quantity of photographs and negatives along with clippings, printed materials, ephemera, oral histories, maps, motion pictures, sound recordings, typescripts, manuscripts, and other types of materials. Many items are facsimiles of photos, documents, and newspapers.

Correspondence of Elizabeth T. Mann, a farmer's widow of Ft. Spring, Greenbrier Co. The letters written to Mann describe family matters and farm home life during the late nineteenth century. The addendum of 2025 October 27 consists of assorted correspondence, estate papers, legal and financial paperwork, ledgers, and other material pertaining to the Mann and Hutchinson families, particularly James Mann, I.T. Mann, and Matthew Mann. Includes brochures, books, and other material related to tourism in and the history of Bramwell, WV, Bluefield, WV, and other West Virginia locations.

The papers of Michael Relihan of Greenbrier County, West Virginia, an Irish immigrant, farmer and Confederate veteran of the Stonewall Brigade. Includes: biographical information such as death certificates, cemetery and census records, and clippings (1870-2003); several land records, including deeds and surveys, (1856-1946); financial records (1895-1927); family correspondence (1879-1911); and miscellaneous items, including an itemized bill of Relihan property lost to the Union Army during the Civil War (1863-1864), a "Workman's Account Book" (1853), and "An Abstract of Road Laws" pertaining to Greenbrier County (ca. 1882). There is also a photograph of Michael and Mary Relihan (ca. 1920).

Includes genealogy and Civil War records collected by Roy Bird Cook of Lewis County, West Virginia. Series 1 through 5 were compiled by Marcellus W. Zimmerman. They include correspondence, church records, academic records, genealogical records, research manuscripts, and clippings regarding primarily the genealogy and history of Lewisburg and Greenbrier County, and the life and career of Confederate Brigadier General Alexander W. Reynolds. Series 6 through 8 were collected by Roy Bird Cook. They include military records and clippings regarding West Virginia units, the Confederate 31st Virginia Infantry, and other Confederate units from Virginia; there are also business and miscellaneous records, including ledgers, clippings, research notes, etc. Series 9 includes oversized material from earlier series.
