Includes 28 glass plate negatives documenting subjects from Morgantown, West Virginia circa 1890-1910. Subjects include Morgantown homes owned by Captain Hatfield (corner of Spruce and Willey), J. H. Stewart, I. G. Lazelle, Rumsey, Dr. I. C. White, H. B. Allen. Miss Hattie Tennant (southeast corner of Spruce and Pleasant), W. P. Willey (background features Miss Hattie Tennant house), William H. Moorhead and Frank Cox (corner of Pleasant and Spruce Street), McDermott's Stables (Kirk Street), William H. Moorhead, and W. H. Cooke and some of I. C. White's home. One box contains the original glass plate negatives while the second box contains the sleeves that originally held the negatives, including identifying information where present. Correspondence of Martha Brand Wolfe and Charles M. Wolfe, who operated a small farm at Morgantown. The papers include some old Monongalia County land deeds of Charles I. Brand; letters from evangelists Dr. R.E.L. Jarvis and Dr. Edward D. Fellers, together with letters of Mrs. Wolfe on religion. There are also Christmas cards, local news clippings, two Brand family autograph albums, family photographs, and a newspaper clipping book, 1881-1905.

Types of image include group portraits, landscapes, and building photographs. Conventions and meetings include the WV Delegates to Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Convention, the 13th Annual Meeting of the WV Dairymen's Association, the Democratic National Convention, the WV State Federation of Labor, the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO), the United Steelworkers of America, United Mine Workers of America (UMWA), and more. Businesses include the Morgan Shirt Company, the Greenbrier Ore Company, the Libbey-Owens Sheet Glass Company, and more. These photographs include both original and facsimile materials that are either separated from other collections, or are not associated with any collection. Includes one record book of money orders issued at the post office in Morgantown, West Virginia from September 1867 through April 1877. There are also four record books of 'Receipts and Payments' at the post office in Uffington, West Virginia from April 1922 through April 1944. Uffington record books document transactions involving postage stamp stock, incoming sales, stamps, canceled money order advances received, orders paid, as well as quarterly accounts. This collection also includes a 1928 almanac for Hagerstown, Maryland titled "J. Gruber's Hagerstown Town and Country Almanack."

Putney-Reed family
Correspondence, legal papers, photographs and genealogical records of the Putney-Reed family. The letters, which were exchanged between family members in California, Iowa and Kanawha Salines, West Virginia, primarily concern family affairs. There are also thirty-seven letters, 1858 - 1862, written by Emily Reed a student at the Woodburn Female Seminary in Morgantown, Virginia (later West Virginia), to her family describing student life, particularly the curriculum and her efforts to promote Christianity.

This collection includes papers concerning many phases of West Virginia History, although centered on Preston, Taylor, and Monongalia counties. Includes marriage licenses from Preston County, 1881-1947; newspaper clippings from Morgantown newspapers; a meeting invitation from the Monongalia County Historical Society, 1947; newspaper clippings on the emancipation of slaves in Taylor County; and a concert program from the Morgantown Musical and Literary Society, 1880.
