Abstract Or Scope

These annual reports contain statistical information on teachers, students, boards and libraries, and information about school funds. These reports are prepared and submitted by the School Division Superintendents to the State Board of Education. A separate report is prepared for each county and city and then bound into books.

Abstract Or Scope

Records, 1859-1861, of the Auditor of Public Accounts Harpers Ferry Fund, arranged chronologically into five boxes. The collection mainly consists of accounts and receipts, but also interfiled is correspondence, payrolls, special requisitions, and warrants. The records document the expenses incurred by the militia, individuals, and businesses during John Brown's Raid and detail the Auditor of Public Accounts reimbursements. For an unknown reason some of the records have warrant numbers, while the earlier records do not (1859 October - 1860 February).

The library has minute books for 1776-1860, 1900-1973 and 1975-1977. Volumes are also referred to as Order books.

These records were filed with the Clerk of the Supreme Court and copies forwarded to each justice for review and study before the cases were argued. Types of records may include brief of appellant, brief of appellee, reply briefs, reply briefs cross appellant, amicus briefs, petitions, and appendices.
