This collection includes records transferred from the West Virginia University College of Law (COL). Series I includes papers of various COL faculty, administrators, alumni, and associates. The most common material types are correspondence, notes, publications, course materials, and case files. Series II includes materials used as class resources, generated by students, and related to curriculum. The most common material types are course notes, syllabi, exam instructions, and reading materials. Series III includes materials related to COL events and the College's various publications (e.g., newsletters and journals). The most common material types are event programs and invitations, event planning materials, and copies of newsletters. Series IV includes administrative materials and records of general College of Law operations. This series contains the most diverse grouping of materials, and it includes things like correspondence, photographs, reports, and some artifacts. Series V includes records of renovations, additions, and new construction of COL facilities. The most common material types are architectural drawings and related correspondence. Series VI includes records related to the process of maintaining and reviewing the College's accreditation status with the American Bar Association and American Association of Law Schools. The most common material types are ABA/AALS reports, compiled internal records, and correspondence. Series VII includes records of the law library. Records of two West Virginia University literary societies. Columbia Literary Society Records include minutes books, 1861-1920 (4 Vols.); ledgers, 1873-1907 (2 Vols.); and roll book, dues record, and financial reports, 1906-1921 (1 Vol.). Records of the Parthenon Literary Society include minute book, 1895-1911 (1 Vol.) and roll book, dues record, and financial reports, 1907-1911 (1 Vol.). The collection also includes miscellaneous notes, lists, reports, and letters inserted between pages of these volumes. The formation of these Societies predates the establishment of West Virginia University on February 7, 1867. The Columbian Literary Society was established in the fall of 1852 (cf. inside front leaf of volume of Columbian Literary Society records, 1861-1873). The Parthenon Literary Society was known as the 'Monongalian up to 1872' (cf. p.[1] of volume of Columbian Literary Society records, 1861-1873).

Typed drafts of Medical Education In West Virginia University by Gideon S. Dodds and Edward J. Van Liere. This eighteen volume draft set of research notes was compiled (1953-64) by WVU Physiology professor, Van Liere and WVU Embryology professor and Medical Faculty Committee officer, Dodds. There are also two volumes of scholarship statistics on WVU Medical students, 1932-64.

Collection consists of ephemera, publications, and other memorabilia related to the history of the West Virginia University. Includes dance cards and programs (1896-1932, 1951, undated); programs for school clubs, memorials, musical performances (1892-1931, 1965-1967); commencement programs and invitations (1875-1950); sporting event and concert tickets (1895-1975); student and university publications (1899-1963, undated); and other ephemera. Dance cards and programs pertain to various fraternities and sororities, the military department, student clubs, and general dances. Publications include student handbooks, a directory, and a November 1923 issue of the Athenaeum.
