Court case papers are mainly in regards to debts owed by individuals, and include: summons, warrants, bonds, bills of complaint, promissory notes, court transcripts, and affidavits related to the cases. Various other records include suits over assault and battery, inheritances, property, and child support. Contain a corresponding index, arranged alphabetically by persons named in the suits.

This collection includes materials from Dr. Emory L. Kemp's career of researching, documenting, and preserving historic structures. Kemp was a practicing civil engineer from 1952-1959, then taught civil engineering, historic preservation, and the history of technology from 1962-2003 at West Virginia University. He served as an expert consultant for the preservation of many historic engineering structures, including bridges, waterways, and mills. He also published regularly and remained active in several professional organizations.

There are photographs from Chapters 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 of Kemps book Essays on the History of Transportation and Technology including the Weston and Gauley bridge Turnpike; Pulaski Skyway, New Jersey; origins of the modern suspension bridge; Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway and introduction of the French Needle Dam to the United States. Other photographs include United Kingdom suspension bridges, the Cincinnati Suspension Bridge and a variety of French Suspension Bridges.

Interesting items of note are a collection on Fairbank Oil and the Oil Museum of Canada; patent photos for Kemp's book on patents; papers on the origins of Ontario oil, preserving covered bridges, industrial archaeology and various other topics; booklets produced by Kemp on "Bridge Engineering History" and "Wheeling Custom House"; and a clipped magazine article from Family Magazine on "Chain Bridge Over the Potomac."

Interesting items of note include a copy of the General Advertiser, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, May 1797; The Graphic Royal Wedding Number, 1879; The Scientific American, May 1883; Wheeling photos 1888-1892; Early Oil Drilling photos in Volcano, West Virginia ca. 1800s; Carrollton Bridge photo prior to 1962; Wheeling Bridge 1849-1900 and a collection of 20 facsimile prints titled "Picturesque Beauties of Boswell" by Thomas Rowlandson. Also of interest are Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Co. items including a stock certificate from 1903, an illustration of a "View of Wheeling-The original terminus of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad" 1860, two pages from the Illustrated London Times 1861 containing the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Tray Run Viaduct, Kingwood Tunnel and Boardtree Hill.

The Blair family papers (1821-1949) contains the personal correspondence of Lewis Harvie Blair, Martha Ruffin Feild Blair, and Jean Feild Blair Helion; drafts of various works by Lewis H. Blair; a copy of Lewis H. Blair's "On the Prosperity of the South;" unpublished writings from Mr. Blair's family members; interior decorating books by Brown Landone; personal finances; a sampling of checks; letters and financial documents from the Hideaway Motor Court; insurance documents; photographs of family and friends; photographs of buildings; blank postcards and holiday cards; memorabilia and ephemera. The collection does not include any letters, memorabilia or documents from the United States Civil War.

Personal papers of James M. Guiher, Jr. (1927- ), Editor and Head of Textbook Division of Prentice-Hall books, and son of James M. Guiher, Sr. (1897-1965), a prominent lawyer, politician, and community leader from Clarksburg, West Virginia. Includes autobiographical material, correspondence, publications, photographs, and other material regarding growing up in Clarksburg, attending Washington Irving High School (Clarksburg, WV), serving in the U.S. Army during WWII, attending Princeton and Harvard Universities, his career at Prentice-Hall, as well as his writings (including essays and plays). The writings regard an evolving view of life influenced by art, existentialism, and experiences in Italy and Greece. There are publications regarding the history of, and places and events in Clarksburg and Harrison County (including booklets, pamphlets, programs, maps, clippings, and post cards; ca. 1953-1999). There is also a group portrait photograph of his father James M. Guiher, Sr. as a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity, West Virginia University, 1917. There is a book of historical autographs collected by Guiher, Jr., including those of George Washington and Martha Custis Washington, John and Abigail Adams, and Benjamin Franklin, among others. There are also addendums including five portrait photographs (2014-02-24); papers relating to the Guiher, Davis, and Hart families, and related subjects; James M. Guiher Sr.'s service in WWI; four paintings and two artworks (2014-08-29); and three paintings (2015-08-17).

Family papers compiled by Katherine Williams of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Most of the papers are of the James H. Taylor family of Clarksburg, West Virginia dating from the 19th century. There are also records of the Irwin family including a genealogy, and the Civil War letters of private George Irwin, a soldier in Company F, 95th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Other families documented include the Redman and Summers families. The collection includes letters, autograph books, family business records, genealogies, photographs, and other material.
