Amelia's memory album and book of handwritten verse, approximately 6.5" x 4.75" brown leather bound with gilt decorated borders on covers and title on spine. It has marbled end papers. There are 46 pages used for inscriptions, verse, and literature, with a few dates in the range of 1823-1832.

The papers of Anna Maria (Campbell Hickman) Otis Mead Chalmers (1809-1891) and her family offer a deep look into a 19th century American family with a sharp focus on enslaved and formerly enslaved persons. The collection documents the life of a young, widowed woman, Anna Maria Mead Chalmers, who was the granddaughter of General William Hull (1753-1825). She was a mother of four children and became a businesswoman in Richmond, Virginia. She was a writer, an editor of the Southern Churchmen, an educator and founder of Mrs. Mead's School for Young Ladies, and a director of The Southern Churchmen Cot ("Retreat for the Sick"), a hospital for children. Anna Maria's family enslaved people who are represented in the papers including Othello "Tillo" Freeman (1790's-1860's?). It includes a letter from William written in [1875], who was their carriage driver, and letters about Sam the fiddler, who settled on the farm after escaping harsher enslavement in Louisianna, and Jordan who was described as being hired out in a letter dated September 8, 1841 from Thomas R. Blair.

McDonell asks the merchants to forward his enclosed letters (not present) to Lord Selkirk and two to New York.

The Blair family papers (1821-1949) contains the personal correspondence of Lewis Harvie Blair, Martha Ruffin Feild Blair, and Jean Feild Blair Helion; drafts of various works by Lewis H. Blair; a copy of Lewis H. Blair's "On the Prosperity of the South;" unpublished writings from Mr. Blair's family members; interior decorating books by Brown Landone; personal finances; a sampling of checks; letters and financial documents from the Hideaway Motor Court; insurance documents; photographs of family and friends; photographs of buildings; blank postcards and holiday cards; memorabilia and ephemera. The collection does not include any letters, memorabilia or documents from the United States Civil War.

48 panels with text or illustrations on both sides. Written in either Tai Khuen or Tai Lue, two very similar scripts. The speakers of these languages are found in northern Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. This manuscript appears to have come from Myanmar, and contains protective mantras and yantra designs for candles.

This collection of Burnley Family letters, 3 cubic feet, contain family correspondence and papers of a prominent Albemarle County, Charlottesvile, Virginia family from 1808 to 1964 which include civil war and slave documents, military papers of Company F, 7th Infantry orders, teaching papers of Samuel Goodman Burnley, political letters about Harry Flood Byrd, writings of William Samuel Burnley, and letters reflecting the turn of the century family life, friends, church services, and family and local news.

The Carter Glass papers, 1820-1946, 141 cubic feet, consist of correspondence, manuscripts, newspaper articles, photographs, speeches, and printed materials from his work in the Banking and Currency Committee, the Secretary of the Treasury (1918-1920), and the United States Senate (1920-1946). Subjects include: The Federal Reserve Banking Act of 1913, the Federal Reserve system, and the Banking Act of 1933 (1932 Glass-Steagall Act).

Celestia "Essie" Wade Butler Smith papers, 1793-2002, 2 cubic feet, consisting of correspondence about her work with the United Daughters of the Confederacy and many other Southern organizations to preserve the Confederacy. She was also involved with the Democratic Party, Womens' rights and genealogy. There are narratives of family histories and eighteen and nineteenth century papers including slave documents. There are also personal papers, correspondence with other writers and publishers, and drafts of stories and poems by Mrs. Essie Smith. Included are programs from many of the plays and concerts that she attended. Also of interest are letters with her daughter, Mary Cabell Smith, who was working for General Motors Continental in Europe in the 1920's and 1930's.

This collection includes letters between Robert Gilliam and Charles Macalester between the years of 1818 and 1872. Gilliam was either a lawyer or clerk at the Prince George County Courthouse in Virginia, and Macalester was a businessman in Philapelphia and the namesake of Macalester College in Minnesota. The letters include a variety of topics--both personal and professional, ranging from the price of beer to the Civil War and Cholera--which seem to indicate the two are related, perhaps as cousins. The papers also include a clipping from an 1836 newspaper from Philadelphia, a sketch of Napoleon drawn by a former French officer in 1817, and a photocopy of an undated newspaper article about Catherine Copeland Robertson.
