Special Collections is located in Carol M. Newman Library at Virginia Tech. Special Collections includes manuscript collections, rare books, and the University Archives, as well as state, local and historical maps and photographs. The Daniel Bedinger Lucas papers consist of scrapbooks, correspondence, poems and essays, newspapers, and other materials collected and created by Lucas, including several items created by his sister, Virginia Lucas, also a poet.

Dickson Family Papers, 1769/1924 2.8 Cubic Feet 2 boxes

Dickson family (Greenbrier County, W. Va.)
The papers consist largely of land, property, and goods transaction receipts and documents of each of the four generations of the Dickson Family, who originally settled in what is now Greenbrier County, Virginia (now West Virginia) in the 1770s. Certificates, oaths, correspondence, deeds, and a diary are included in Joseph Dickson's papers, along with several sale documents for enslaved people from the late 1700s and early 1800s. Much of the land and goods and many of the enslaved people were exchanged with neighbors and others in the area.

Dillard-Larkin Family Papers, 1809/1955 1.9 Cubic Feet 3 boxes

Dillard, James Spotswood, 1791-1866
This collection contains correspondence to and from the Dillard, Larkin, Turner, Christian, and Wallace families. The collection also includes financial documents and records, speeches, photographs, and personal papers from the Dillard and Larkin families. Materials range from approximately 1811 through 1955.
