Letters from the archbishops of Canterbury and York, Anglican and Episcopal bishops and British prime minister, William Ewarts Gladstone chiefly concerning church business. Included among the correspondents are William E. Gladstone, John Henry Hobart, A. F. Winningham Ingram, Richard Channing Moore, Charles Manners Sutton, and Archibald Campbell Tait. Also included are etchings of Richard Channing Moore and of Beilby Porteus, Bishop of London; and the published volume "The House of Bishops" (The Churchman Company, 1907).

Collection includes family correspondence of the Bowman, Veach, and Leeper families. Manuscripts include a recounting of the Civil War event known as "Jones' Raid." In another document Nathaniel Cochrane, an ancestor of Thomas Leeper, recounts his capture and imprisonment by indigenous people, along with a biography of Cochrane. Daily life for that time is captured in "Home Life of the Leeper Family." Other typescript histories include "Monongah," Thomas Leeper's diary regarding heavy rains and high waters of 1888, a history of West Monongah High School, and "History of the Leeper Family."

Collection contains autographs albums, library catalogs of personal libraries, maps, math notes and scrapbooks.

Correspondence, letters, and papers of Thomas Haywood, a surveyor in Harrison County, West Virginia, and Luther Haymond, postmaster of Clarksburg, West Virginia, concerning inquries about land and land purchases in the surrounding areas. Letters are mostly related to business. Also Includes office warrants, surveys, plats, deeds, and a copy of a land grant signed by Patrick Henry.

Lists names of pioneers, ministers, soldiers, and teachers of early [West] Virginia, and adjoining counties of Maryland, with places of, residence and dates as compiled from approximately sixteen sources, including Withers Chronicles of Border Warfare; Hampshire County Court Records; Virginia Genealogy and County Records; Official Records of Frederick County; American State Papers, Claims XIX, Virginia; Allegany County, Md., Records; and History of Allegany County, Thomas and Williamas.
