Series 2: Legal and financial documents (circa 1764-1948) includes personal and professional legal and financial records, most connected to members of the Haight family, including account ledgers, bank, registered letter, and tax receipts, formal and informal contracts and agreements, and other legal documents created by organizations within Fairfax County. Additional documents include Union Army passes issued to Alexander Haight during the Civil War, Alexander Levi Haight's Fairfax County draft classification card issued during World War I, a New York court summons for Stephen Sweet Haight, a California gold dig payment issued to George Sweet, currency notes, including Confederate paper money, and military orders issued during the Civil War. This series is arranged alphabetically either by last name of the subject or creator of the document or by title of the document.

Series 2: Letters, manuscripts, indenture agreements, drawings, poetry

87 letters, manuscripts, indenture agreements, drawings, poetry, and other materials to and from Maury family members. Includes handwritten notes and portraits of Henry Clay (dated 1846) and Sir Robert Peel (undated). Materials cover the antebellum, Civil War, and postbellum periods, with correspondence between family members in North Carolina, New York, and Great Britain. Topics include Civil War blockade runs, religion, literature, international politics, and family matters. Correspondents include Gaetano Polidori, Sir Anthony Panizzi, William Seward, Samuel Rogers, and John C. Calhoun. Accession: 2019.363 Addition

Series 2: Mss. 65 Lit D61

This series contains photocopies (with original and carbon typescript) of satirical works, usually known as "Dinwiddianae Select Poems Pro Patria" by an unknown author or authors, and studied by Carl R. Dolmetsch. The works are against the policies of Robert Dinwiddie who was governor of Virginia from 1751-1758 and are written in dialect. The collection includes essay, 1964, by Tobias Mark Sindt, "Some Insights of the Dialect of Colonial Virginia Utilizing the 'Dinwiddianae' and Related Manuscripts."
