This collection contains a scrapbook created by Morton Louis Felsenthal while he was a student at Washington and Lee University during the 1917-1918 school year. The scrapbook includes photographs, clippings, and ephemera. The subjects of the photographs include student life, campus buildings, the 1917 football team, football training, football games, the Student Training Army Corps, the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), classmates, athletic fields, Goshen Pass, Southern Seminary, 1918 basketball team, and Randolph-Macon. Of particular note is a photograph of a child dressed in military uniform with the caption "A Little Sammie." The clippings relate primarily to athletics. The ephemera includes telegrams from home, a report card, advertisements, an embroidered napkin "Lexington Restaurant," a mask from Fancy Ball 1918, the 13 club, checks to Washington and Lee, a freshman rules broadside, an American flg, football programs, cigarette wrappings, and a document regarding the WLU Provisional Battalion Training, which according to a caption in the scrapbook became ROTC in 1918.
