Charlotte County (Va.) Apprenticeship Indentures, 1787-1871, are bonds and contracts of apprenticeship given by the Overseers of the Poor, showing the names of master and apprentice, the trade to be taught, details of the contract, the amount of the bond and the names of sureties. Many of the apprentices bound out prior to 1866 were free African Americans.

Charlotte County (Va.) Board of Exemption Minutes, 1862-1865, consist mainly of lists of persons who applied to be exempt from military service. Names of the persons applying are given as well as the reason given for the exemption (mainly disease or injury). Lists of persons exempt because they were overseers, doctors, sheriffs, millers and farmers are also present. Arrangement is by date of meeting. Accompanying each meeting is a list of the present board members. There is no index. Information about military exemptions exists for the years 1862-1863.

Charlotte County (Va.) Commissioner of the Revenue Memorandum Books, 1806-1840, are rough drafts of personal property taxes compiled by the Commissioners of the Revenue. Some of the books have a listing at the front of the volume of the tax rates for that year. Information recorded for each person includes if applicable full name, number of white tithables, tithable slaves listed by name, number of tithable slaves older than 16 years of age, number of tithable slaves older than 12 years of age, numbers of horses and mules, and number of coaches, carriages and other taxable wheeled vehicles. There is no index.

Charlotte County (Va.) Estray Records, 1770-1870, contains various loose records giving public notice of valuable, tame animals, either lost or found wandering and presumed escaped from their owners, allowing the owners to reclaim the animals. Enteries generally indicate by whom the animal was taken up, before what justice the person went and when, and the description and appraisement (value) of the animal.

Charlotte County (Va.) Records Related to the Registration of Free Persons, 1794-1865 , consists only of the "Register of Free Negroes," 1794-1865.

Charlotte County (Va.) Relief Bond, 1867 Feb. 1. The bond, for five hundred dollars, was issued by Charlotte County to Merchants Insurance Company of Richmond in pursuance of an act of the General Assembly 1863 October 31 for the relief of indigent soldiers and sailors of the State of Virginia.

Charlotte County (Va.) Salt Distribution Register, 1862-1864, is arranged into roughly three sections. The first section is arranged alphabetically by surname and lists the number of people in that family, the first and last name of the person buying the salt, the number of pounds purchased, and the amount paid with columns for dollars and cents. The columns for pounds purchased and amount paid are arranged by month. The second section is arranged alphabetically by surname and lists the same information although there is only one entry for each person listed. The third section is not in any kind of discernable order but seems to also list either pounds or sacks of salt purchased and the amount paid. The month and year October 1863 is written at the top of some pages in the third section. About three quarters of the salt register is paginated by folio. It begins pagination over at page 1 following the p. 1-54 of the home remedies, etc. that precedes the salt register. There is no index.

Charlotte County (Va.) Township Records, 1870-1875, consist of three volumes and papers relating to the administrative functions of the township boards of the county.

Will books, 1765-1791, of Charlotte County Court. The will books includes the name of testator, list of heirs and year the wills were proven in court and probate records such as inventories and appraisements.
