Papers, 1815-1838, of the Austin-Haw family of Hanover County, Virginia, consisting of the will, dated 9 June 1815, of John Austin, Jr. (1761-1815), of Hanover County which gives a detailed statement of the disposition of his slaves; accounts, 1816, of the estate of John Austin, Jesse Winn (1752-1823), executor; receipts, 1815-1820, issued to Jesse Winn as executor of the estate of John Austin; bond, 24 May 1836, from Richardson T. Haw (1809-1849) and John Haw (b. ca. 1802) to Ezekial S. Talley (ca. 1802-1875), guardian of Thomas K. Jones, for court ordered payment; account, 1837, of Edwin Shelton (b. ca. 1800) to John Haw; deed, 30 April 1838, for a tract of land in Hanover County from Richardson T. Haw to John Haw; and record, n.d., of birth and death dates of possibly family members or slaves given to Margaret M. Haw (1811- 1878). The deed and will books containing the above instruments are no longer extant.
