Papers, 1751-1793, of the Dandridge-Payne family of Goochland County, Virginia, consisting of: a) deed of gift, [29 August 1751], from Nathaniel Dandridge (1729-1786) to his daughter Martha Dandridge (1748-by 1797) for six female slaves; b) a memorandum, 10 August 1792, from Moses Hunter concerning the taking of affidavits in the suit of Archer Payne (1748-1831) (who married Martha Dandridge) against Moses Hunter; c) affidavit, August 1793, of William Dandridge (b. 1750), taken in the District Court of Winchester, concerning the slaves given to Martha Dandridge (Payne) by Nathaniel W. Dandridge in the deed of gift; and d) exception, 1793, of Archer Payne in his suit against Moses Hunter to the decision of the court that he could not produce the subscribing witnesses to the deed of gift of slaves from Nathaniel W. Dandridge to his daughter.
