Carter-Sessions Papers

The Carter-Sessions Papers is the correspondence of Claudia Stevens while she was preparing musical tributes to musicians and composers Elliot Carter (1908-2012) and Roger Sessions (1895-1985). This series includes: musical scores of various artists and their ideas for the performance of their pieces, biographical material of contributing artists along with reviews of some of their work, programs from several recitals performed by Claudia Stevens in 1983 and 1984, compact disc recordings of Claudia Stevens' tribute performances, and reel-to-reel recordings of concerts. This folder contains the monograph entitled "Masters and Mentors of the Piano: an account by Claudia Stevens of her piano study with major piano teachers and leading performing artists of the second half of the twentieth century, 1966-1981." This folder also contains other material related to Claudia Stevens' piano study and performances in 1966-1983. It includes lists of recordings and works performed, with autobiographical notes, and a list of premiere performances.
