Series VIII. Miscellany consists of oversize and miscellaneous materials in the Philip S. Hench Walter Reed yellow fever collection that were, for various reasons, not included in any of the other series in the collection. Items in this series date from around 1849 to 1982 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1885 to 1974. These materials include, but are not limited to the following:

Series VIII. Miscellany consists of oversize and miscellaneous materials in the Philip S. Hench Walter Reed yellow fever collection that were, for various reasons, not included in any of the other series in the collection. Items in this series date from around 1849 to 1982 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1885 to 1974. These materials include, but are not limited to the following:

Series XII. Houston Academy of Medicine/Texas Medical Center additions consists of materials that Philip Showalter Hench created or collected while researching the yellow fever experiments. Items in this series date from around 1901 to around 1966. These materials were originally a part of the Philip S. Hench papers in the John P. McGovern Historical Collections and Research Center at the Texas Medical Center Library, but they were transferred to the University of Virginia in 1991. These items include, but are not limited to the following:

Series XII. Houston Academy of Medicine/Texas Medical Center additions consists of materials that Philip Showalter Hench created or collected while researching the yellow fever experiments. Items in this series date from around 1901 to around 1966. These materials were originally a part of the Philip S. Hench papers in the John P. McGovern Historical Collections and Research Center at the Texas Medical Center Library, but they were transferred to the University of Virginia in 1991. Series XIV. P. Kahler Hench additions consists of original and photocopied materials that Philip Showalter Hench's son, P. Kahler Hench, donated to the University of Virginia in 1988 and 1989. Items in the series date from around 1860 to 1965 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1898 to 1965. Most of these items were collected or created by Philip Showalter Hench while researching the yellow fever experiments. These items include the following:

Series XIV. P. Kahler Hench additions consists of original and photocopied materials that Philip Showalter Hench's son, P. Kahler Hench, donated to the University of Virginia in 1988 and 1989. Items in the series date from around 1860 to 1965 with the bulk of the materials dating from 1898 to 1965. Sons of Staunton African American Fraternal Lodge minutes book 0.03 Cubic Feet one letter size folder

Manuscript minutes book of the Sons of Staunton African American Fraternal Lodge in Staunton, Virginia. Containing 154 pages of manuscript in pencil, dated 1914-1919. The Sons of Staunton Lodge no.1833 Grand United Order of Odd Fellow, an African American masonic lodge based in Staunton, Virginia. Each entry lists the officers present, the amount of dues paid, and any other business attended to during the meetings. Also included is a 1927 letter on letterhead of the King Harem Lodge, a sister lodge based in Staunton, two leaves from a 1920's minutes book, a rental receipt for a post office box by the King Hiram Lodge, and a church program from Mount Zion Baptist Church in Staunton, Virginia, Sunday September 12, 1948.

This collection contains minutes and membership directories for the Town-N-Gown, an organization dedicated to fostering good relationships between Old Dominion University, national defense forces (ex. Navy), and the Hampton Roads community.

Consists of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra organizational archives, the Virginia Symphony Board archives, artifacts concerning premieres and other notable performances, and season programs.
  1. Old Dominion University

Women Students Association records .75 Cubic Feet

The collection contains two minute books and three folders of loose papers taken from the minute books, a copy of the Constitution of the Women's Students Association, a letter from Dean of Women Robert Hollingsworth and Peggy Thompson, Acting President, to the Women Students of the University of Virginia, 1946, enclosing a copy of the Constitution, and explaining various regulations and describing organizations that welcome women, and in what capacity. It also includes papers regarding women students at U.Va., including the typesetting copy and galley proof of the "University of Virginia Handbook for Women Students, 1948," a publication prepared by the Panhellenic Council and the officers of the Women Students Association. The handbook contains information one would expect to find in any new student handbook, with particular attention to the activities and organizations open to women's involvement. Also included is a copy of the Constitution of the Women Students Association and a map of the grounds with places of interest to women students highlighted including the new women's dormitory, the co-ed room and the office of the Dean of Women.
