The collection contains a black and white photograph of Arthur George Williams, Professor of Modern Languages at the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary, in his study as well as a letter written during World War II about giving guns from the war to a friend in the United States. It is unclear if the letter relates to Professor Williams.

The bulk consists of reel-to-reel tapes and cassettes created by the Public Relations Office (now Communications and Marketing) which recorded VMI events. Also includes Glee Club LPs (1950's-60's) and misc. other audio (e.g. Flapjack Blues played by Frank Pancake).

The collection contains letters belonging to August "Auggie" Lourenco, a Portuguese-American from Newark, New Jersey, who served in the United States Army during World War II. Most letters are addressed to his girlfriend-then-wife, Anna "Ann" Lourenco (née Ertman), a second-generation Polish immigrant. Lourenco joined the United States Army in 1943 and completed his basic training at Camp Gordon, Georgia and Nashville, Tennessee, before being sent to Yuma, Arizona for additional training. Lourenco was then stationed across Europe, most often in Germany but also in France and Belgium. Most of Lourenco's work in the Army consisted of truck driving.

Letters, written between November 1943 to January 1944 and November 1944 to January 1945. Letters were written by Beatrice Nalser, who was a member of the Navy's WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) program. She was an Aviation Machinist Mate Third Class Petty Officer, later being promoted to the position of First Class Petty Officer. Her letters are written from Naval Air Station, Norfolk, Virginia, and written to her parents in East Liverpool, Ohio. Her correspondence deals with her day-to-day life, descriptions of her work, relationships she is in, and descriptions of the Hampton Roads area. Additionally, Nalser writes about Christmas, describing: presents she sent, presents she received, and her attempts to take leave from work to visit East Liverpool. Folder 1 contains all letters between November 1943 and January 1944. Folder 2 contains all letters between November 1944 and January 1945.

This collection consists of about 50 letters addressed to Berdean Hall, of Newman, California, mostly from her brother, John Hall. Berdean Hall served in World War II as a member of the United States Women's Army Corps, known as WAC. After joining the WAC, Berdean was transferred to Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. Her brother also served in the United States Army during World War II in the Army Air Corps. Berdean's letters include correspondence from friends serving in the military during World War II. These letters document the conditions of Army hospitals in the United States during World War II, and highlight mixed reactions to women's involvment in the United States military during World War II. The first letter in the collection is hand-dated as 1940; given the accompanying's envelope's postmark date of 1941, this is assumed to be an error.

Large amount of letters from Bernard T. Lindsey to his wife, Julia from 1943-1946. During World War II, Lindsey served as a Bosuns' Mate, First Class in the United States Navy. He participated in the Pacific theater and served on board the USS RINGOLD (1940), USS ALBERMARLE (1941), USS NEW JERSEY BB-62 (1942), and USS WISCONSIN BB-64 (1943-1946). These letters cover the time that Lindsey served on the USS WISCONSIN.

Diary, 1944, of Bessie E. Carter, possibly of Roanoke or Montgomery County, Virginia. Includes information about her daily life, including the weather, helping with cooking breakfasts and dinners, cleaning, feeding hogs, and making fires. At the beginning and end of the volume there are notes that include the names of people she knew who came back from World War II and when they departed again. There is also a photograph of an unidentified elderly woman wearing black, with a hat and veil, with the caption "Remember Me" on an Art Deco frame. The photograph and the frame have been separated for preservation purposes.

This collection contains correspondence, other documents, and photographs pertaining to Dr. Beverley Randolph Tucker, his son Beverley Randolph Tucker II, and their families, most prominently being Elizabeth Sloan Tucker Cann, wife of Beverley Randolph Tucker II.

Material on archaeology at Jamestown and the expansion of the National Park Service. Personal papers which include Flickinger's position at the Technical Training Service at the Quartermaster School during World War II, his position as a teacher of American History and news clippings about his interest in the theater and history.
