Papers of the Dickinson, Gordon, and related families of the Cheat Lake area of Monongalia County, West Virginia. Includes series of Papers of Deborah Gordon, Miscellaneous, Genealogy Records, Pamphlet and Ledgers, Artifacts, and Oversize. Papers of Deborah Gordon includes "Order of Rainbow" material (ca. 1950s), and a scrapbook documenting West Virginia University athletic events (she was a cheerleader), travel, and special events. Genealogy Records includes information regarding William Norris of Cheat Neck (settled 1781); also includes information on George Baker, George Norris, Addison S. Abstract Or Scope
Two scrapbooks (10 in. x 13 in.) compiled by Mabel Marie Griffith (born 02-28-1896) documenting her life in Morgantown, West Virginia in the period 1914-1926, including her personal and family life, education (Morgantown High School and West Virginia University), and her attendance of athletic, musical, and theatrical events. There is documentation of the effects of World War I (WWI) on Morgantown, Redpath Chautauqua, the impact of the influenza epidemic on the family of Charles Holt (the brother of Mabel Griffith's Mother, recorded in a newspaper clipping), and Mabel Griffith's wedding to Rudolph Stoyer (10-10-1920). There are illustrations (clipped and pasted into the scrapbook), photographs, clippings, programs, postcards, grade school report cards, and ephemera. Ephemera includes calling cards, dance cards, and greeting cards.

Abstract Or Scope
Photocopy facsimile of scrapbook assembled by Mildred Arnett-Reed (11' x 16'; 95 pages). Includes photographs, letters from her sister and friends, newspaper clippings, programs, and ephemera documenting Reed's activities in the Morgantown, West Virginia area during her high school years (1924-27). There are also clippings and letters regarding her wedding in 1931, and greeting cards for her 25th wedding anniversary. Photographs include candid and portrait shots of Mildred's family (William E. Arnett, Sr. family) and friends. Newspaper clippings report Mildred Arnett's marriage to Rufus Reed, birth of her daughter Ann, and local events and entertainment in the Morgantown area. Programs document musical, theatrical, and athletic events in Morgantown, including silent movies at the Strand Theater, and events of Morgantown High School and the Metropolitan Theatre, among others. Many of these programs include numerous advertisements for Morgantown businesses. There is also a program for the dedication of new facilities for Morgantown High School (1927). Ephemera includes name cards, dance cards, greeting cards, cartoons, school certificates, gift tags, tickets, and Alpha Xi Delta Sorority invitations and dance programs, among others.
