Papers, circa 1970s-1990s, of Evelyn Momsen Hailey (1922-2011) of Norfolk, Virginia. Hailey served as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates from 1974 to 1981 and as a member of the State Senate from 1981 to 1982. She was active with women's rights organizations and environmental protection and an avid supporter of Equal Rights Amendment legislation. Her papers include correspondence, clippings, speeches, and printed material, campaign materials, and other materials related to her political career. Several bumper stickers are housed in the Manuscripts Artifact Collection. Four reel-to-reel audiotapes are housed in the Manuscripts Audiovisual Collection.

Series of letters, bound into a black volume with gold embossing around its edge. The letters span from 1828- 1857 but the bulk of the letters are from 1830- 1833. Brown writes to an assortment of recipients and from varied places such as Petersburg, Virginia, Richmond, Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland. Topics in his letters include politics, Brown was a member of the House of Delegates for Virginia, love, business, and family affairs. One later letter laments the ill health of his father and the sudden death of his dear brother, Henry. There are also a few letters from J. Wilcox to John Thompson Brown relating to legal and business matters.
