The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence (1913-1919) including letters to and from state and national political figures; correspondence signed by Eggleston as Acting Director of the Extension Division (1913-1916); correspondence between Eggleston and principals, board members and others of various agricultural high schools relating to financial requests, personnel, etc. (1916-1919); correspondence with county agents and state and national personnel connected with agricultural programs; correspondence with Carneal and Johnston, architects, concerning construction of Shop building, Gymnasium, Professor Vawter's residence, VPI Chapel, McBryde building, Athletic building, and Field House. Other material in the collection includes: Sophomore Court matters (1913-1914); reports of annual meetings of agents (1913-1916); Agricultural Experiment Station reports (1914); U.S.D.A. Weekly Demonstration Work Reports (1914); financial forecasts (1914-1915); annual reports (1915); Smith-Lever salary vouchers, 1915; reports of demonstration agents (1916); departmental needs (1917); telegrams (1917-1919); resolution creating Athletic Director position (1918); Houston property deeds and contracts; speeches and articles. Education for women and African American extension and Y. M. C. A. work are among the issues addressed in the correspondence.

The Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station (VAES) was established in 1886 by an act of the Virginia General Assembly and funded by the federal Hatch Act of 1887 for the purpose of providing practical and useful information on agricultural and scientific subjects. The collection includes 114 surveys books for ten counties in Virginia from 1931 through 1940, as well as files dated 1903-1947 of weather reports, annual reports of investigations of the field laboratories, and a large amount of documentation of various research projects related to crops, orchards, animals, and more. There is also the correspondence of A. W. Drinkard, Jr., director of VAES, with state entomologist and plant pathologist W. J. Schoene, professors at VPI, agricultural organizations, and others.

The collection documents the history of the Virginia Tech Amateur Radio Association since its founding in 1913 to encourage an understanding of and an interest in amateur radio, to provide a station for the uses of club members, and to provide emergency and public service communications. The collection consists of certificates, logs, membership lists, correspondence, publications, violations, registration forms, yearly recollections, and copies of radio licenses. There are also photographs and negatives, including items removed from a scrapbook.

The Records of the Virginia Tech Dairy Science Complex, RG 13/8/1, contains 23 ledgers about the dairy herds in the Department of Dairy Science farms from 1916 to 1969, with the bulk dating 1948 to 1968. The ledgers include information about breeding records, calfing, feeding records, pedigrees, and general health of the university's dairy cows. Some ledgers contain certificates and awards from the VT Dairy Science Complex.

The collection contains the personal and academic papers of Robert A. Belz, a 1939 Virginia Tech alumni who graduated with a bachelors degree in industrial engineering. Materials range from 1869-1962, however, a majority of the works are from the 1930s-1940s or undated. Several oversized folders accompany the collection and hold technical drawings, newspapers, coupon bonds, posters, and his diploma. In addition to school work for math, business, humanities, and science courses, the collection also includes correspondence, clippings and ephemera, and a small group of photographs and cards.
