Many photos focus on the military career of Robert, Jr., along with two letters that were written during his service. There are newspaper articles about Dr. Robert Young, Sr., about his involvement in different organizations. Also included is a Ledger written by George Baskerville, the grandfather of Robert, Sr., during his time attending VMI.

The Samuel D. Jones Letter to Henry C. Wysor is a letter written on March 10, 1893, from Jones (1856-1930) in Glade Spring, Virginia, to Wysor (1847-1927) in Dublin, Virginia. The letter details a payment for an insurance policy and is written on Southwest Virginia Institute for Young Ladies letterhead. Jones was principal of the institute, and Wysor was an agent for the New-York Life Insurance Company.

The Shaver and Schaeffer Family Collection consists of a variety of materials, which range in dates from 1872 to 1977. The collection includes photographs, Virginia Polytechnic Institute memorabilia, printed materials, such as coupons, advertisements, and pamphlets, ledgers, scrapbooks, correspondences, diplomas, certificates, family papers, ephemera, publications, newspaper pages, newspaper clippings, calling cards, pay stubs, church offering stubs, and additional materials collected by the family. The collection also has a copied written piece by Dewey M. Shaver recalling her life in Blacksburg, Virginia. The collection includes five series: Correspondences, Ephemera, Family Papers, Photographs, and Printed Materials.

This collection contains loose ledger sheets for the household expenditures of Dr. John B. Slusser, an advertisement from the Pressed Steel Car Company, a reciept from the Virginia Tech dining hall, a United States patent application for a nut-lock invented by Murray C. and William J. Slusser, and pages from a personal account book.

Dashiell, Thomas E., 1876-1970
This collection includes materials relating to Thomas Edward Dashiell's time as a student at the Virginia Agricultural and Mechanical College. Included are invitations and programs from Lee Literary Society events, Dashiell's grade reports from 1894 and 1895, and the Honor List from the 1894-1895 academic year. The collection also contains two letters sent to Dashiell's parents, one from Ellison A. Smyth and the other from President McBryde. While attending the college Dashiell played on the football team, a newspaper article detailing the 1894 VAMC vs. VMI game is also included. Dashiell left the college in 1896 when his father fell ill.

Thomas Nelson Conrad (1837-1905) served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War and as President of Virginia Tech. The collection consists of the original manuscript of The Rebel Scout: A Thrilling History of Scouting Life in the Southern Army, written by Conrad from 1891 to 1893, and published in 1904.

The Virginia Tech Alumni Associaiton Cards, RG 29e, contains cards and rosters about Virginia Tech alumni from 1875 thru 1970. Items include a variety of biographical data, such as names, graduation years, degree program, addresses, names of spouses and children, military service, and more. Series are based on format and arrangement, and individuals may be identified in one or more series.
