Jane C. Washington writes to her son, John Augustine Washington III, about his improving health and his recent dangerous encounter with a horse that nearly killed him. She briefly mentions politics, including the "triumph of the Whips in New York and Pennsylvania" and that the outcomes of the Virginia elections are still unknown. She discusses the state of the farm, mentioning that the harvests of wheat and oats are less than desired. She quotes several sections of Bushrod Corbin Washington's will, which John had previously requested in a separate letter, regarding the fate of his law books following his passing.
