Papers of Judge Gideon D. Camden (1805-1891) of Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia, and papers of his grandson Wilson Lee Camden (1870-1958). Gideon D. Camden was a lawyer, Democratic politician, member of the Virginia Convention of 1850-1851, circuit judge, and state senator (1872-1876). His papers include correspondence, legal and business papers, surveys and plats, and printed material. Subjects include Virginia, West Virginia, and national politics; the railroad, oil, timber, and coal industries; and Camden's law practice. Wilson Lee Camden papers include correspondence, legal papers, surveys and plats, printed material, business manuscripts, photographs, map, and ledgers. Subjects include the settlement of his grandfather's estate, and extensive coal, timber, land, railroad, and oil interests in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania. Account books kept by Hook, Schrader and Company, a Wheeling-based buggy manufacturer and repair shop. Contains four account books consisting of Private Cash (1879-1882), Private Journal (1872-1883), and two Day Books (1872-1877 and 1880-1882). These books contain records of the company's finances, including records of work done (including painting and varnishing, repairing wheels, and replacing axles) and payments made by customers. All material within this collection is available on microfilm.

The photographs and negatives of the Gerbrick Studio of Martinsburg whose most prominent proprietor was Jacob H. Gerbrick. There are group and individual portraits as well as pictures of business and industry, modes of transportation, schools, churches, residences, clubs and organizations, and social events. These photographs reflect life in Martinsburg and the extreme Eastern panhandle, including unique events such as strikes or floods, annual events such as festivals and parades, and everyday occurrences of the inhabitants. There are also images of the apple industry, Gerbrick family, Shepherd College, and Storer College.

A letter written to his parents in West Chester, Pennsylvania, describing his travels from Maysville, Kentucky to Natural Bridge, Virginia, on the way to Richmond, Virginia. Everhart vividly describes the conditions he experienced in travel by steamboat and stage and the mountain scenery he passed through. Sites mentioned are Guyandotte, Virginia, Charleston, West Virginia, White and Blue Sulphur Springs, and The Hawk's Nest.

Suit papers and correspondence in the case of the BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD VS. J.B. FORD, general agent of the railroad at Cumberland and Wheeling. The papers include copies of documents relative to the building of the railroad from Cumberland westward to Parkersburg and Wheeling and the activities of Ford as general agent at Cumberland and Wheeling, 1852-1874. Most of Ford's evidence deals with the role of the railroad during the Civil War and its relations with the state of West Virginia. There are copies of letters from John S. Carlile, J.W. Garrett, George B. McClellan, Francis H. Pierpont, and Edwin M. Stanton. The correspondence is with Ford's attorney, William P. Preston of Baltimore.
