This collection contains ninety years' worth of records related to the history of the Metropolitan Theatre and other respected local arts institutions, such as the Strand Theatre, Morgan Theatre, Morgantown Theatre Company, Morgantown Amusement Company and Westover Drive-In. Materials include movie posters, newspaper clippings, tickets, movie studio newsletters, film stills, operators' reports, payroll ledgers and blueprints, among other material.

Abstract Or Scope
Photocopy facsimile of scrapbook assembled by Mildred Arnett-Reed (11' x 16'; 95 pages). Includes photographs, letters from her sister and friends, newspaper clippings, programs, and ephemera documenting Reed's activities in the Morgantown, West Virginia area during her high school years (1924-27). There are also clippings and letters regarding her wedding in 1931, and greeting cards for her 25th wedding anniversary. Photographs include candid and portrait shots of Mildred's family (William E. Arnett, Sr. family) and friends. Newspaper clippings report Mildred Arnett's marriage to Rufus Reed, birth of her daughter Ann, and local events and entertainment in the Morgantown area. Programs document musical, theatrical, and athletic events in Morgantown, including silent movies at the Strand Theater, and events of Morgantown High School and the Metropolitan Theatre, among others. Many of these programs include numerous advertisements for Morgantown businesses. There is also a program for the dedication of new facilities for Morgantown High School (1927). Ephemera includes name cards, dance cards, greeting cards, cartoons, school certificates, gift tags, tickets, and Alpha Xi Delta Sorority invitations and dance programs, among others.
