The Effinger School collection consists of the compiled research of Clinton Lee Anderson and Henry A. Hatcher, co-authors of "Celebrate Effinger, 1922-2010" their published history of the Effinger School in the Collierstown vicinity of Rockbridge County, Virginia. Included within the collection are various records, publications, printed matter from the school, school newspapers, alumni records, photographs, and general history of the school.

This collection includes material related to and collected by the Reverend Dr. Wyatt Tee Walker and his wife, Theresa Ann Edwards Walkers. Materials include personal papers and administrative files of Dr. and Mrs. Walker, audio recordings of Dr. Walker's church services, honors and awards given to Dr. and Mrs. Walker, photographs and slides taken by or depicting Dr. Walker, Dr. Walker's published works and unpublished manuscripts, and other memorabilia and ephemera. Also included is an oral history performed with Dr. and Mrs. Walker.

This collection contains certificates issued to donors who financially sponsored scholarships to aid students attending Washington and Lee University post-Civil War. The donors were from various states, including Louisiana, Missouri, and Florida. Two of the donors were women. Several certificates still have coupons that were associated with their gift of supporting students. All of the certificates have been cancelled, which presumably means the funding ended. Some certificates have a red seal that includes the date 1782.
