A hundred page handwritten diary kept by G. B. Keeler. Keeler worked and lived in Petersburg, VA. The diary contains details of his home life and mentions of his work as a contractor and mason.

Four page letter addressed to his son, Jim. In it, Rodgers recounts a raid staged by about 100 of the "darkies" in Petersburg, Virginia that was foiled by the police. He also comments that there are plenty of white voters in town who should be able to make the "colored rule gone forever." Other contents of his letter are of a personal nature. The last page of the letter is a note from his sister, Maud Mary Rodgers. She reports that their dog, Carlo, is alive and stashed at Mr. Walkers so the dog-catcher cannot find him. She also comments on school and personal activities.

A diary kept by Mary Plummer Mcllwaine during the year of 1932. Mcllwaine was born in 1889 in Petersburg, VA, and died there in 1973 at the age of 84. Her father worked as a medical doctor in Petersburg, and she continued to live there with her mother and sister "Becca" after his passing. This diary covers Mcllwaine's day-to-day activities over the course of a year; recounting her work with rental properties she managed or owned, church activities she attended, and various family events that occupied her time.
