The John Muse Correspondence includes just over 126 letters, most of which are written by John Muse to his future wife, Bessie Brewer, as he travels and works. The materials range from 1906 to 1951, with the bulk of the materials coming from June of 1906 to October of 1907.

John R. Hutcheson family
Correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other items document the career and family of John R. Hutcheson. After earning his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI), John Redd Hutcheson (1886-1962) began working at the Virginia Agricultural Extension Service in 1914, becoming its director in 1919. Hutcheson was elected as president of VPI in 1945, serving until his nomination as VPI's first chancellor in 1947. The next year he became the first president of the VPI Educational Foundation, Inc. Hutcheson married Eleanor Parrott, with whom he had three children: Eleanor Catlett, John Hutcheson, Jr., and Robert Hutcheson.

The collection contains 102 letters from Joseph F. Ware to his wife, Susie, in Blacksburg, Virginia, while he was serving overseas during and after World War I. The other significant portion of this collection contains nearly 200 photographs.

This collection includes the business records of Kent's Store in Fluvanna County, Virginia. Account books, including daybooks, journals and ledgers maintained by general mercantile businesses Kent & Parrish, G. H. Kent & Co. and G. H. Kent. Other records include cash books; bill books; post office ledgers; pharmaceutical, fertilizer, mill work, and blacksmith account ledgers; and James M. Kent estate records.
