There are obituaries of prominent West Virginians as well as news clippings and invitations to weddings and social events. There are also news clippings of local and American history.

The West Virginia Library Commission was established in 1929 to develop and support libraries in the state. Meeting minutes document the services the commission provided and the issues that it faced from 1942 to 1958. Topics include budgets and financial issues, library extension services, staff positions, circulation and other usage statistics, conferences, field activities, and inventory and processing.
