Contains the letters of William S. Jefferys, a Union soldier from West Virginia, during the American Civil War. Based on his letters he probably was in the 7th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry. The bulk of the letters consist of Jefferys writing home to his father from the battle front describing the conditions of his fellow officers, asking about the condition of his relatives back home, and stories from the front lines including the occupation of Winchester in 1861. He also describes his feelings about the "slavery question" and assures his father he will not desert the Union Army.

Letter, 1865 January 12, from William W. Silvis, Oakland Crossroads, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania to Samuel Steel. In the letter, Silvis talks about the health of Steel's family and the halt of rail roading as a result of the cold weather, wonders if Steel has been in any fights while in the Union Army, and notes that there will be a draft in February if the quota of soldiers is not met. The letter was given by Katrina Garrison in honor of Elizabeth Yeates.

Letter, 1842 November 7, written by General Winfield Scott to W. C. Preston, a politician. In the letter, Scott recounts recommending Preston to the president for a position in Paris, and goes on to discuss the presidential nomination of the Whig party, for which he was a possible candidate. Scott expressed a desire to be nominated only if the Whigs stood a small chance of winning. The letter was written in Washington, D.C.. A transcript of the letter is included with some annotations.

Contains letters, photographs, and other material related to the Winfree and McIlwaine families of Petersburg, Virginia. The bulk of the letters are addressed to Dr. John Winfree and are handwritten with envelopes. Most of the photographs are tintypes and pertain to the McIlwaine family, including photographs of William Baird McIlwaine, who attended the University of Virginia and became a doctor. Most of the letters have to do with business affairs, predominately of the Winfree family.

This collection contains fliers, letters, awards and other material related to Winged Nation, a literary arts magazine at the College of William and Mary. Included in the records is a copy of Winged Nation's constitution from 1995, proofs for the magazine, and fundraising material to support Winged Nation. Two CDs of digital files from the April 2008 and 2012 issues of Winged Nation as well as a floppy disk and a zip drive labelled "William and Mary Book" are also included.

Papers, circa 1830s-1950s, of the Wissler, Mayer, and Erb families of Grottoes and Columbia Furnace, Virginia, and Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Included are photographs, an autograph album, a manuscript cookbook, receipts, two ledgers, a Bible and hymn book, a Wissler family record for the descendants of William Franklin Wissler and Elizabeth Mayer (m. 1890), and correspondence.

Three photographs of two homes in Williamsburg, Virginia where W. Melville Jones lived during 1934 and 1936. The two houses were rented to The College of William and Mary faculty.
