Collection contains letters describing officer William C. Hensyl's time in France from late summer 1918 to late summer 1919. One letter contains a booklet from a hotel in southern France. Letters are addressed to his sister, Annie, as well as to her husband and son.

Letter from William Collins, Warren [Rhode Island] to Charles Collins, Newport, Rhode Island, requesting information about a chain for sale, noting he needs "one of 1 inch and about 50 fathoms" and an anchor "suitable for a chain of about 800 pounds." March 23, 1831.

Letter written from Camp Hamilton (or Fort Monroe) by Col. William H. Allen, 1st New York Infantry, to Captain J. Frederick Pierson regarding the arrest of a husband and wife on suspicion of treason. The following is a transcription of the letter: "You will at once proceed to the residence of Mr. Mussey residing within these lines & search his house and arrest himself and wife or any others whom you may have just cause to suspect of conveying information to the enemy".

Civil War correspondence, passes and orders relating to 1st Lieutenant William H.E. Morecock of the 32nd Virginia Volunteer Regiment. Legal documents of William H. E. Morecock, mostly concerning the lawsuit in Williamsburg and James City County, McCandlish vs Warburton, during 1851 to 1853. Correspondence and financial records of the Board of Visitors of the College of William and Mary while William H.E. Morecock was Secretary of the Board, 1877-1890.

This collection contains three letters and a newspaper clipping regarding a fugitive slave named Adam that belonged to William Sims of Union County, South Carolina. The clipping, dated 1805 July 20, gives a description of Adam and offers a two hundred dollar reward for his caputure. The three letters describe the capture and release of Warren Hall whom Adam was last seen with.
