Document signed "Fairfax" on parchment. Grants 425 acres of land in Augusta County to Jacob Christman. As the document notes, this land along the Lost River of Cacapon was surveyed by George Washington.

This collection includes copies and originals of 18th and 19th century land grants for acreage in Rockbridge County, Augusta County, Bath County, and other areas in southwestern Virginia. Three folders relate to the Borden land grant, which established Rockbridge County. There is a fragment of an undated, handwritten copy of the Borden land grant. Other folders related to the Borden grant include historical analysis and recounting of the development of the grant by E.P. Tompkins. Some land grants pre-date the Borden grant. Folders with the parenthetical note of "Copy" only include photocopies of the original land grants. The Trimble land grants can be found in oversized drawer 33.

Land grant of Culpeper, proprietor of Northern Neck, of 5000 acres to Col. John Washington and Col. Nicholas Spencer; the original patent for the Mount Vernon lands. Paper seal with coat of arms upper left corner. Docketed by George Washington and others on verso.

A.D.S. 1 page. Document signed, laminated, docketed "Isaac Sotherland's Deed for 215 Acres in Frederick County Entd. and Exd." Deed for 215 acres of waste and ungranted lands in the Drains of Babb Creek in Frederick County--to pay annual quit rent of 1/ for every 50 A. Signed by Fairfax.

Land grant to Thomas Martin for his service in the French and Indian War, under the Proclamation of 1763. Granted in New York and signed by Edwin Chandler. The docket reads 'Received New York the 20 January 1767 of Mr. Christopher Roosevelt the sum of ten shillings for my property of lands allotted me' and is signed by Thomas Martin. The Margaret Grattan Weaver Collection, 1707-1992 (bulk 1857-1910), consists of one box and one oversize folder of materials pertaining to Weaver and her ancestors, specifically John E. Roller, Weaver's grandfather. Also included are biographical and genealogical information of county residents and historic locations and Civil War Documents with notable signatures. Monongalia and Harrison Counties
Two manuscript volumes containing surveyors' field notes for Harrison County, and copies of Monongalia County surveys, compiled by members of the Haymond family. These notes also contain: information concerning acreage cleared, location and type of construction of the homes of some early residents of Harrison County; dates of patents and names of those persons to whom patents were issued; street courses and survey of the corporation of Clarksburg, 1835; and names of members of a survey party, wages paid, miscellaneous expenses, and camp locations.
