Faulkner was a Martinsburg attorney, Virginia legislator, member of Congress, and ambassador to France during the James Buchanan administration. Includes business and land papers of James Faulkner of Baltimore, 1804-1811; letters to and papers of Charles J. Faulkner; a colored plat of a survey made for William McMurtrie [1786, Harrison, now Upshur County] along French Creek; and a Thomas Haymond survey plat in Harrison County, May 1844. Included in the letterbox are land deeds, property inventories, lists of unpaid accounts and land leases, land and mine surveys, equipment bills, reports on the working costs of coal mines and oil production, instructions for the construction of bungalows and a water plant, business contracts, and a letter concerning Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad redeemable Tickets and Coupons. There is also mention of Charles E. Krebs, Inc., a blue print company owned by Charles E. Krebs.
