Diary, 1875-1886, of Abraham Rudisill, a member of the 43rd Pennsylvania Light Artillery during the Civil War. It is primarily contemplative in nature and contains many references and rememberances to his service during the Civil War, including at the battle of Gettsyburg, gambling during the Civil War, the battle of Bull Run, and other events and battles.

Letters, 1861-1863, of Ambrose M. Hite, a soldier in the Confederate army (33rd Virginia Infantry Regiment) to his sister, Susan R. Hite, in Page Co., Va. Includes descriptions of camp life and an account of the battle of Gettysburg and the retreat that followed.

Collection contains correspondence and a single photograph of Courtland Way Starr. Correspondence contains accounts from soldier Courtland Way Starr to mother in Long Island N.Y. Corrrespondence includes accounts from Harrisburg PA on June 26, 1863, recounting his experiences in the army and with the 23rd Regiment of Brooklyn. Letter to mother on July 5, 1863, from Laurel Ford in Pennsylvania describes the exhaustive, cold conditions and the harsh realities of army life. Letter to Mother about twenty miles from Harrisburg Pennsylvania on July 2, 1863, discusses his regiments movement, a skirmish, and his concerns regarding the enemy also noted is that the Battle of Gettysburg occurred July 1-3, 1863.

The letters are from relatives and friends in Bridgewater, Virginia, Martinsburg, West Virginia, Hancock, Maryland, Orbisonia, Carlisle, McConnellsburg, Gettysburg and Round Grove, Pennsylvania and Polk City, Iowa. One letter concerns the Battle of Gettysburg.

Letters, 1861-1898, bulk, 1861-1864, of Edward R. Jones, Jr. of Co. K, 95th Pennsylvania Volunteers. (Col. John M. Gosline's Pennsylvania Zouaves) written to his mother, aunt, cousin, and William Butt, Jr. Letters were written from Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. and describe camp life and battle, express his views on the war, and discuss family affairs. Includes a description of John S. Mosby's Partisan Rangers and Jones' part at the Battle of Fredericksburg (1862). He also discusses battle conditions at West Point, Gains Mills, Charles City Cross Roads, Malvern Hill, South Mountain, Antietam, Salem Heights, Gettysburg, Locust Grove, 3rd Fredericksburg, and 2nd Bull Run. Collection also contains post-war correspondence discussing the war and an 1898 roster of Survivors of the 95th Pennsylvania., with Edward R. Jones then listed as living in Beverly, New Jersey.
