Papers of Anita Cutright Burnett, an Upshur County genealogist and active member of the Upshur County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The collection contains DAR membership applications, genealogical correspondence, vital statistics for Lewis and Upshur counties and typed copies of the 1850 census returns for Ritchie and Taylor counties.

Papers of the eighth governor of West Virginia, 1890-1893, who was an attorney in Marion County, 1863-1867, a member of the House of Delegates, 1872-1875, a circuit judge, 1878-1888. Fleming was closely associated with James O. Watson in the development of the coal and railroad industry in the Monongahela Valley. There are scattered papers, including several hundred sermons of Benjamin F. Fleming (1810-1876); one common pleas book; two "Memorandum of Decisions" books from the law firm of A.B. Fleming; and family genealogical records. Among the correspondents are J.N. Camden, H.G. Davis, A.G. Dayton, S.B. Elkins, and F.H. Pierpont.

Also includes a 1925 announcement of a Morgantown High School Commencement and several early 1920s greeting cards.

Two personal diaries of R.E. McCabe of Charleston, West Virginia, containing notes on trips to Europe (1924) and California (1937). On the California trip he briefly describes Kansas City, Boulder, Denver, Santa Fe, Taos, and Los Angeles, muses on real estate values, and notes oil rigs and pipelines. There is a short genealogy of the Hayward family. The diaries also include references to the Ward, Fleming, Brooks, and Watson families. Also includes photographs of members of the Ward, Fleming, Brooks, and Watson families.

Correspondence and genealogical materials related to the William B. Edwards family of King George County, Virginia, and the Capt. William Sommerville family of Martinsburg, Virginia (now West Virginia) from the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. These families were joined when Elizabeth Sommerville (1812-1886), daughter of the Revolutionary War veteran, married William B. Edwards (1810-1888), a Methodist clergyman from a planter family, in 1833.

One box of material including original and typescript copies of letters exchanged between Anna Kennedy and J.J. Davis for the period 1860-1862. Also included is material on the Chapin family, Davis and Steen family genealogy and Reed family Bible. Correspondents are J.J. Davis, Anna Kennedy, J.W. Davis, Phineas Chapin, Rev. Asa Brooks, and J. W. Wayland. John W. Davis' certificate of Admission to practice before the Supreme Court of West Virginia dated 1896. His sponsor was Melville Davisson Post and President of the Court was Homer Holt. Also, Davis' commission as a Notary Public dated 1898.

Davis-Meranda Family of Clark County, Ohio, Genealogy .01 Linear Feet 8 leaves (1 folder)

Collection of genealogical information regarding the Davis family of Clark County, Ohio in the late 1700s to the mid 1800s. Beginning with Robert Davis, the collection follows the bloodline through his daughter, Mercy (Davis) Meranda, to where the family eventually moved to in Missouri and later, Indiana.

Photocopies of documents and manuscripts compiled by the Fowler family regarding their ancestry. Includes correspondence; court documents; certificates of birth, death, and marriage; genealogy; and miscellaneous notes and poetry. Much of the material regards the Fowlers' ancestors in England, including those who lived in the county of Kent in the south-east of the country.

Georgia C. Price Genealogy Research Papers 0.4 Linear Feet Summary: 5 in. (1 document case)

Genealogy research material of Georgia Catharine Price (1867-1954, born in Monongalia County, West Virginia), granddaughter of West Virginia legislator William Price (1803-1881), and Earl L. Core. Includes typescript and original correspondence, genealogies, facsimiles of legal documents, and other material, mostly relating to the genealogy of various families, including Core, Haught, Price, and Tennant. Prominent locations include Greene County and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and Monongalia County and Marion County, West Virginia.
