This collection contains chiefly correspondence with Washington and Lee University and United Daughters of the Confederacy officials, resolutions, and reports relating to her participation in the controversy over W&L President Henry Louis Smith's proposed renovation and expansion of the Lee Chapel. Also includes correspondence and clippings relating to fund-raising for the Stratford Hall restoration. Correspondents include members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Washington and Lee officials, and Lee family members. It also includes a copy of Mary Randolph Custis Lee's will dated 1918.

This collection ncludes correspondence with various Washington and Lee University officials (Sessoms, Hotchkiss, Parsons and Wilson); other alumni concerning Washington and Lee University Admissions, athletics, fund raising, college history, the Washington Society, the 250th observance at Washington and Lee University; the minutes of the Alumni Board of Directors; course book from 1998 alumni college titled Older than America: an oral history of Washington and Lee.

This collection contains a single letter, typed to Miss Margie Bourne from Helen Keller. Dated November 25, 1944, the content of the letter is soliciting funds for the American Foundation for the Blind. The leader's header is printed and reads "Helen Keller, 15 West 16th Street, New York 11, N.Y." The letter is signed by Keller in pencil at the bottom right.The letter is intriguing–particularly when you consider that Keller had to develop the skills to type without the ability to see the keys on the typewriter. The bottom of the typed letter also bears Keller's handwritten signature.

This collection contains correspondence between Libby and Floyd Gottwald and several faculty and staff of Washington and Lee University. Topics include the university's finances, initiatives, and events.

Papers of Edward Price Buford, lawyer of Lawrenceville, Brunswick County, Va., who practiced alone and in the firms of Buford, Palmer and Hill, and Buford, Palmer and Eggleston. Letter books, daybook and journal containing personal and legal correspondence and accounts, and materials relating to political and economic conditions in Lawrenceville and Southside Virginia, to a hospital fund campaign in Lawrenceville, and to the Lawrenceville Land and Timber Co. of which Buford was an officer. Correspondents include Robert Strange.

Letter written by Richard Randolph to William B. Randolph of Chatsworth (near Richmond, Va.), dated May 21, 1855. Richard Randolph introduces himself as being selected by William & Mary faculty as their agent to solicit financial aid for the College, "an unpleasant task, which I could not decline." He appeals to William Randolph by comparing Plymouth and Bunker Hill, Massachusetts to Jamestown and Yorktown, Virginia ("the provident Yankee and the 'chivalrous Virginian'"), mentions that the monument (at Jamestown?) to James Blair has been demolished, and that William & Mary has been "disinherited by the State, and is now languishing for want of funds."
