Abstract Or Scope

Includes Ledgers, vouchers, accounts, correspondence, and other financial records dating from the opening days of the Institute through the early 20th century. These records are a good source of information for tracing early purchases of goods and services; local Lexington and Rockbridge County businesses/artisans/craftsmen appear in vouchers.

Also contains subject files maintained by COL William Couper, who served as VMI Business Executive from the 1920's-the 1950's. These files, although unrelated to finance, contain information about many historical topics and were maintained in Couper's office.

Collection consists of scrapbooks, yearbooks, and other documents related to the Nu Rho chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a national co-educational service fraternity founded in 1925. Scrapbooks date from 1975 to 2019. Yearbooks are from 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. Other material includes a framed charter from the chapter's founding in 1961, a service award certificate from 2011, and a trifold poster.

The photograph collection of College of William & Mary alumnus William C. Kepner includes photographic images predominantly from 1946-1950. The collection also includes 35mm color slides from William & Mary's 1975 Homecoming festivities. The inventory of the collection provided by the donor: 1 box 300+ b&w negatives (2.25x3.25); 1 box 100+ b&w negatives (4x5); 1 negative album of 100+ negatives (2.25x3.25); approximately 200 b&w slides (made from the above); 200+ 8x10 prints (from Colonial Echo and Flat Hat); 10 sets of b&w album prints; 4 envelopes of miscellaneous 5x7 prints; 1 envelope of Kodacolor negatives, and 1 print; 1 envelope of 2 5x7 & 2 4x6 prints from 828 Koda; 1 box of 35mm color slides from the 1975 Homecoming; playbills from theater productions; 2 slide carousels of 120+ slides in b&w SQ format; and 1 film of the Backdrop Club intro from 1948 as well as a DVD copy of the film.

Collection contains composite photographs and documents related to the Keplar Society, which became the Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Sigma Chi at William & Mary. The donor, Douglas Jacobson, was a member of both groups. Included is the petition sent to Sigma Chi to request to become an official chapter.
