Correspondence, 1756-1764, of Maria Carter Armistead (including letters written by Mrs. Thomas Feilde); business papers, 1782-1828, of William Cocke of "Bremo," Henrico County, Virginia and of "Oakland," Cumberland County, Virginia; and letters, 1861-1863, of William Fauntleroy Cocke, Thomas Lewis Preston Cocke and Edmund Randolph Cocke concerning their service in the Confederate States Army (including the Battle of First Bull Run).

"Benefactions of Francis Nicholson, Esqr. to the Church & Clergy in North America" prepared by Rev. George Keith, which lists the churches and amounts of money given by Nicholson to build churches from 1689 to 1704. Also noted is "Benefaction to the College of Williamsburgh in Virginia of several hundred pounds." Keith was agent for the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel in Foreign Parts. 8 pages. Papers, 1770-1875, of the Blow family of "Tower Hill," Sussex County, Va. and of the Waller family. Prominent correspondents in the collection include Philip Barraud, John Hartwell Cocke, Henry Lee and Edmund Ruffin. Most of these accessions were integrated as the collection was partially processed, but some are boxed separately.

This collection contains documents relating to the Brafferton Estate as it impacted the College of William and Mary such as accounts, decrees, correspondence, biographical material on Robert Boyle, 20th century material on the search for information about the Brafferton Estate, and other material. The collection includes both original documents and copies of documents.

The collection includes: correspondence and land records of Robert "King" Carter; correspondence and land records of his sons Robert Carter (1704-1731) and Landon Carter (1710-1778); correspondence, accounts, land records and the appointment to the Virginia Council of Robert Carter (1728-1804), son of Robert Carter (1704-1731); correspondence, diaries, land records and accounts of Robert Wormeley Carter (1734-1804), son of Landon Carter of Sabine Hall; and correspondence and land records and papers concerning the estate of Robert Carter's grandson, Landon Carter (1757-1820).

Includes printed and manuscript material written in Spanish and originating from Spain and Spanish-speaking countries in North America and South America. The collection is currently being processed and new items will be added on an ongoing basis. For this reason, the indicated date range is approximate at this point. This collection has multiple creators, which have not been indexed at this time.

Letters and papers of the Earls of Dunmore, a branch of the Murray family of Scotland. All of the papers, except eleven items relating to Virginia, 1770, 1776 are photocopies. The early papers relate to lands in Brabant (a province of the Netherlands) inherited from the 7th Earl of Derby and his wife, and to the role of Charles Murray, 1st Earl of Dunmore (1661- 1710) as Master of the Horse to Queen Mary, the wife of James II.

Chandler, Calvin Coolidge, Westmoreland Davis, Jessie Ball Dupont, Carter Glass, John D. Rockefeller, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Eleanor Roosevelt, Claude A. Swanson, Lyon G. Tyler, Alexander W. Weddell, and Woodrow Wilson.

An artificial collection of papers created from material acquired during the 1930's and 1940's. Mostly letters, financial records, published material and official records of individuals in Virginia and elsewhere. Includes documents and signatures of well known people, such as Benjamin Harrison, John Randolph and Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Papers, 1800-1901, of and relating to John Hipkins and John Hipkins Bernard (mostly accounts); of and relating to members of the Hipkins, Bernard and Robb families; and relating to the Hipkins-Bernard-Robb home "Rose Hill," Caroline County, Va. (later renamed "Gay Mont") and to Bernard's lands in Alabama, Texas and Arkansas. Includes diaries, correspondence, poems, accounts and account books of women (Elizabeth Hipkins, Jane Gay Robertson Bernard, and Helen Struan Bernard Robb); and legal documents and letters of John Taylor of Caroline. Of special interest are the diaries of Eugenia D. Robb while serving with the American Red Cross in Germany and Japan during and after World War II (1999.56A).
