The Gregory Family papers follow the family of Virginia Governor John Munford Gregory and wife Amanda Wallace through three generations with letters dating from the 1820's to the 1920's. Most items are letters between family members and grant insight into the daily activities and concerns of the Gregory family. The collection also includes correspondence between members of the Gregory family and other acquaintances, including members of the John Tyler family. While most letters are of a personal nature, some also touch on the issues of politics, education, religion, and agriculture. The collection is rich in genealogical information on the Gregory family and related Croshaw, Graves, West, and White families, as well as history of the family's war involvement. In addition to letters, the collection includes newspaper articles, family documents, and two diaries kept by John M. Gregory's daughter, Mattie Galbraith, in the late 1870's. There are also seven cased images of members of the Gregory Family, including Amanda Wallace Gregory, Amanda's sister (Elizabeth Christie Powell), William Wallace Gregory, and Mary "Mollie" Gregory.

Brockenbrough of New York.

This collection contains correspondence, clippings, photographs, publications, and other material collected by Herbert Ganter, W&M Class of 1927 and Archivist of the College of William & Mary from 1948-1974. Included in the collection are correspondence, photographs, and journals written by and collected by Ganter while a student at William and Mary, correspondence and clippings about information from Swem Library's holdings while Ganter was College Archivist, and correspondence pertaining to the restoration of Williamsburg in the 1930s.

Correspondence, 1873-1903, of Dr. James Fenton Bryant. Chiefly, 1885-1888, with Margaret (Gunter) Bryant of Enfield, North Carolina who became his second wife. The letters concern their courtship and marriage. The collection also includes some letters from Margaret Gunter's sister, and her cousins at Richmond, Virginia, Lynchburg, Virginia and Tarborough, North Carolina; account books and a diary of Dr. Bryant.

Manuscripts of James Poyntz Nelson, a chief engineer of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and the Elizabethtown, Lexington and Big Sandy Railroad. Includes diaries, a letter copy book and a personal notebook. The Nelson Family lived in Lexington, Kentucky.

This collection contains a scrapbook, diary, and correspondence belonging to Jane Isabella Watt White.

This collection contains the diary of Jennie M. Bromley Butler (1860-1948) who lived in Rockville, Connecticut. The diary documents her life after returning from her honeymoon with her husband, Edward Butler, and their first decade of marriage. The entries are dated from 1887 to 1898. She records her traveling experiences, including their honeymoon trip to Montreal, other trips to New York and Philadelphia, and summer and weekend trips. She also records her day-to-day life, which includes her relationship and visits with her mother, notes about health and headaches, observations of fashion and objects, and her experiences as a mother. She also reports on the community around her, noting stillbirths and deaths, and writes of her grief after her mother died. Also interspersed in the diary are quotations and prayers. The diary measures roughly 8 x 6.5 inches with marbled boards. Sixty-five pages contain entries, and the remaining leaves are blank. There is also some tipped-in material including a handwritten biography of Ernest Butler, a page of reflections, and a letter from 1862 regarding a William Butler.
