This collection consists of the papers of three Southerners, dating predominantly from the 19th century. John W. Lewis lived in Virginia, Mississippi, and North Carolina and the portion of the collection from this Methodist minister and farmer includes references to religion including sermons, farming, and slavery. Lewis P. Olds was a North Carolina lawyer and politician and the collection includes evidence of his career as well as poetry and short stories he wrote. The remainder of the collection is schoolwork of Sally Latting from 1808 and unattributed photographs and a recipe book.

Broadside, public notice of the desire of "several gentlemen" to establish a library association in Williamsburg (though unclear if the location is actually Williamsburg, Va.). The notice further states that the Association would secure a public library and public reading room, either by purchase or donation. The first public meeting was scheduled to occur in the lecture room of the Baptist Church.

This collection includes poems and prose (manuscript and printed copies); A May Night Masque, written in 1872 for Ann Smith Academy; notebooks and scrapbooks. There is a Greek New Testament given to Preston by her father, George Junkin, and a glass plate negative of George Junkin's portrait. Additionally, Preston's scrapbooks include one volume of her printed poems and stories and one volume of her sketches and manuscript poems. There is also a broadside, and several sketches by her sister, Eleanor Junkin.

Printed petition titled "Memorial of The Operatives of Glasgow for the Dismissal of Ministers, to the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, the Memorial of the Inhabitants of the City of Glasgow." Handwritten date, 1839, and handwritten note, "as adopted at Newcastle on Tyne." Also contains handwritten notes rewriting some of the points given in the petition, plus ends with "shew this to Gustavus." The writer seemed particularly concerned with the relations between Great Britain and Russia.

Papers of Richard H. Patchin of Marlborough, Ulster County, N.Y., who was a teacher, clothing sales clerk, farmer and public lecturer.

This collection consists of a printed broadside in four columns with a decorative border memorializing Robert E. Lee from the print office of the "The Galveston News," a Galveston, Texas newspaper. It is dated October 18, 1870.

This broadside advertises the medicinal waters of Rockbridge Alum Springs, Virginia.
