The papers received from Mr. Brinkman in 1938 include manuscripts, typescripts, and printed items, and general merchandise account books. The manuscript items are mainly letters, receipts, account statements, and certificates concerning the general merchandise business of George Brinkman in Grafton, Grafton Gas Works, Charles Brinkman's History of Grafton, history of the first memorial service and the location of the National Cemetery in Grafton (Box 13), and stock in the Grafton & Greenbrier Railroad Company.

The papers include 36 volumes of business and other records, such as the ledgers of the George W. Brinkman merchandising firm, the Mutual Building Company, minutesof the Grafton Rotary Club; journal and statistical report of the Grafton Baptist Church, 1897-1906; and a mas. history of Taylor County in various American wars, and extracts from the Civil War diary of Fabricius A. Cather. Also included are 2 boxes of financial records, miscellaneous newspaper clippings, a partial index to scrapbooks, and a family genealogy. There are also 49 volumes of clipping scrapbooks dealing with Grafton and Taylor County subjects covering the period 1868-1938.

Diaries written by Rogers for the years 1870-1871, 1874, 1876-1878, 1890-1902 which describe weather conditions, farm operations, his ministerial duties, and purchases for the farm and household. Ordained to preach by the Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1859, he served this as well as fourteen other churches in Preston, West Virginia, and adjoining counties. Included is a book of sermons with notes on biblical passages.

Three minute books of the Flat Fork Baptist Church. Volume I: January 19, 1850 to April 11, 1869, begins with the organizing of the church, and contains minutes for monthly church meetings. The minutes include general business transactions, acceptance and exclusion of members, appointments of clergy, obituaries, and other similar actions. At the back of the volume are lists of members, lists of pastors, and the original deed for the church property. The lists of members include changes in names of female members due to marriage, reasons for members leaving the church, and death rates of members who remained with the church until their deaths. Volume II covers the period of May 8, 1869 to May 12, 1895 and Volume III runs from July 13, 1895 to August 1, 1948. Both of these volumes contain the same sort of material as the first: membership lists, obituaries, and minutes of meetings.

The earliest volume contains the church's rules of governance and later volumes contain the articles of the church's constitution.
