This collection contains photographs taken by Arthur E. Scott, a photojournalist and photo-historian for the U.S. Senate. It contains over 5,000 prints and negatives of United States politicians (mainly Senators), political events such as campaigns and inaugurations, and landmarks throughout the Washington, D.C. area, from the mid-1930s to the 1970s. There are also 27 scrapbooks compiled by Arthur E. Scott, primarily consisting of newspaper clippings of Scott's photographs. The collection also contains glass negatives from the 1910s and 1920s that were taken by other photographers.

The collection consists of 525 color slides that contain mostly aerial views of Fairfax County and Loudoun County, Virginia. The aerial views feature housing developments, automobile transportation corridors, Dulles International Airport, and the surrounding countryside.

Negatives and other material from the Gravely and Moore Studio of Charleston, West Virginia. The majority of items within the collection are cellulose acetate negatives; the collection also includes glass plate negatives, prints, two photograph albums, and other material, as well as a card catalog documenting business transactions with customers. The collection is organized into customer project files as established by the Studio; the contents of these files are stored in envelopes usually containing one or two negatives, but they can contain up to a dozen or more. There are approximately 3,500 customer project files containing an estimated 11,000 items, most of which are negatives. The majority of photographs within the collection are portraits of individual adults. Other subjects include portraits of children; group photographs; businesses and advertising; members of the military; civil servants; civic organizations; missionaries; and aerial photographs, among others.

This collection contains 10 boxes of slides, negatives, and prints of photographs taken by National Park Service photographer Jack Rottier. Numbering around 2,500 total, the photographs in this collection document politics, culture, and urban beautification in and around Washington, DC during the 1960s and 1970s. Subjects include United States presidents from Eisenhower to Ford, Lady Bird Johnson, the Washington Senators baseball team, the National Mall, and various Potomac-region landmarks and parks.

The Atkins collection consists of approximately 60,000 images that extensively document American political and cultural history from the 1940s through the 1970s. Most of the images that document American political life date from the early 1960s through the mid-1970s when Atkins worked as a photographer for the Saturday Evening Post and then later as the personal photographer to President Richard M. Nixon. The bulk of the American cultural documentation is from Atkins' work in the 1950s and early 1960s on specific stories for the Saturday Evening Post, and these stories cover other areas of the United States, particularly the Southeast up through the Northeast coast. There are also a number of international sets of images from Korea, Africa, and India. The collection consists largely of 8x10" and l3x10" color and black and white prints and 35mm and 4x5" black and white negatives. There are also a number of slides, contact sheets, and oversize mat prints. The collection also includes some correspondence and other documentation on Atkins' work and travel abroad.

The collection consists of hundreds of black and white prints taken by the United States Department of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service between 1953 to 1981 of Prince William County, Virginia.

Mid-20th century photographs of Washington, D.C., area landmarks, including Gunston Hall, the White House, and embassies; local businesses, including Texaco stations and Hot Shoppes; and more common subjects, like artwork, animals, nature, or people. These images are in several formats: negatives, slides, prints, and publications.

The collection contains 104 black and white photographs measuring 3.75 x 2.5 inches, of MAAG Advisory Team 58. The images in this collection document the camp life of MAAG Advisory team 58. Photographs in the collection show the day-to-day life in the camp with no images of combat. The majority of photographs feature portraits of MAAG Team 58.
